Cosy Rural cottage in a private and peaceful setting nestled between feijoa hedges. Private access and set back from main road. The bed is on the mezzanine floor. Ample deck to enjoy an evening sunset.

Located 5 minutes from Auckland's Southern motorway and just 35 minutes from the CBD, and 20 minutes from Auckland Intl Airport. A great place to get away from the busy city.

Also handy to the Karaka Bloodstock Centre for those with Equine interests. Plenty of room for parking (including a horse float).

Additional Information

This little cottage in one of our paddocks was originally built as an art studio. recently renovated its a peaceful little escape from busy city life. Native plantings and bush surround the cottage.

Kakariki Cottage has its own driveway into twin paddocks in one of which the cottage is. Its surrounded by Feijoa hedges on 2 sides and a beech hedge on another. The last side looks out over the farm next door and a native bush. It has a strip of native planting along its entirety. Guests have access to the twin paddocks and obviously the cottage.

Please note, the stairs to the bedroom are steep (see pics).

We live on the same property, but the cottage is very private.

5 minutes from the southern motorway. 35 minutes (traffic permitting) to Auckland CBD. 20 minutes to Auckland airport (even closer to Ardmore Airport). And 15 minutes from the Hunua Ranges (Hunua Falls etc). Shopping in Pukekohe, Papakura, Takanini, Clevedon and Manukau City Centre are all within 20 minutes drive.

We have an adjacent paddock available by prior arrangement if you have a trailer, horse float, caravan, or even a truck. You could even graze your horse safely.

A mezzanine floor has a child safety gate in front of the stairs. Farm Gate to the road must be kept shut.

No fireworks to be used on the property at any time!

Very cosy, warm and tidy place. Not too far away from anything at all. Far enough away from big city Auckland to feel nice and secluded but not too far to visit either.
We visited Hunua Eatery which ...we would highly recommend! Fast, well priced and delicious 😊
Thank you for our stay and hope to be back in the future

Such an incredible little cottage. Was super clean and had everything you could possibly need, including fresh eggs and vogels. The homemade brownies were delicious and very well received thanks. Would highly recommend this beautiful cottage for a relaxing stay.

Enjoy walking through many rows of lavender flowers then cool off with a tasty lavender ice cream. Pick your own lavender and make oil to take home with you. The best months to visit Auckland’s CCT lavender farm is December to February.

Hunua Ranges Regional Park

The Hunua Ranges include approx 400 square kilometres along the southeastern side of the Auckland region. Most of the area includes the Waharau Regional Park, which has more than 450 species of native plants.

Head off and explore hiking tracks that lead you through dense forests to high ridgelines that offer beautiful views of the city or the Firth of Thames.
