Additional Information
The wait will be worth it, when you experience a hot bath under the stars!
The old school feel to Sulky Camp will have you never wanting to leave. It's charming and spacious. You can take yourself back in time, cooking with the wood oven and using an ice box rather than a fridge...But, if you prefer there is a gas BBQ outside that is easy to operate too. You may also notice in the cover photo there is an old school fire pit complete with a BBQ plate, toasting fork and original old-fashioned billy for you to use. Can you imagine yourself cooking over the fire with a glass of wine in hand yet?
Although it's old school and that's the way we wanted to keep it...a creature comfort welcomed by our guests includes a small diesel heater for those chilly winter nights.
Please note:
Fires are NOT permitted all year round (April - August is permitted). Firewood is provided for your stay. Please use common sense if you wish to use the fire outside of this permitted period.
Bed linen, towels and amenities included.
No TV or Wi-Fi. There is also only 12V solar power for lights. You will have mobile reception and can choose to recharge your devices via your car battery.

A perfect stay 10/10.
What a place to stay for a few nights and have some peace and quiet.
Everything was just the way it was advertised.
Shower and outdoor bath were lovely and hot. Bedroom was pe...rfect and cosy and even has a heating system if needed but we didn’t need it. Beautiful place to wake up to watching the sun rise being woken up by the roosters strolling around.
Gulgong only a 3 mins drive a small village with a big supermarket and plenty of cafes which was ideal. Mudgee a 20 mins drive a big town with shops, cafes, pubs etc.
We only used the bbq for cooking which was all we needed and it worked perfect.
Overall, no complaints. Lovely area for a getaway, with cool old features around the farm with a lake. Would definitely recommend.

What a special place this is.
Absolutely incredible. As much as we really wanted to go around and explore the area, we decided that we didn’t really want to leave Sulky Camp and stayed in for most of the weekend.

Very unique and cozy experience, close to Mudgee and Gulgong. Both towns are worth a visit. Outdoor bath by the campfire was very special and paired nicely with some stargazing. Hosts did a fantastic job with this place and have provided the ultimate farm stay experience.

A Stroll Through Historic Gulgong
Stepped back in time in Gulgong. Strolled down streets lined with heritage buildings, felt the gold rush era's spirit around every corner.
Go Back In Time At Gulgong Pioneer Museum
This is the best museum I have ever been to, It has an inside/outside flow of little old buildings/class rooms . If you are a sucker for vintage and history be careful you could end up spending all day here.
Gulgong One Of The Many Local Towns
There are a whole host of charming country towns to visit in the broader area. Glad that we stopped in historic Gulgong on the way in for a coffee.
Feeding The Farm Animals
We loved watching the motley crew of cows, sheep with baby lambs and a token alpaca wandering in their paddock and stopping by the fence for a carrot and a pat.
Zin House Long Lunch
What a vibe this place is. Making new friends at the tasting table, a six course lunch at the Zin house and some time between sittings for a short exploration around the magnificent property. For a special occasion this is nice afternoon spent.
Wine Dine At Lowes
Enjoy some incredible wines with an incredible view. This place is huge and is best explored with some wine. There are many areas to sit and relax and the staff is super friendly and helpful.
