A gorgeous, gently restored miners cottage set in a tranquil location, Shepherds Hill Cottage is part of a working alpaca farm. The secluded cottage has its own private garden and is right next to the alpaca nursery paddock, so expect to see lots of crias (baby alpacas)!

The cottage is conveniently located, 10mins to Kyneton, 15mins to Trentham, 20 mins to Daylesford and 1hr 15mins to Melbourne.

Additional Information

The cottage has original features along with modern touches for a comfortable and unique stay. A wood-burning heater and reverse cycle A/C will keep you cosy in winter and cool in summer.

The large bedrooms have luxurious alpaca quilts, pillows and throws. The master has a king bed and the second bedroom has a queen bed.

The kitchen is fully equipped with a Belling Range, dishwasher and automatic coffee machine.

The bathroom has a bath with a shower above.

An idyllic country escape in a beautifully appointed cottage. Lots to see and do in the area as well. We highly recommend this gorgeous Farm Stay, and the hosts are just wonderful.

Shepherds Hill Cottage was a cosy and charming winter escape. It is a beautifully restored miner’s cottage on an alpaca farm, with the sweetest and friendliest alpacas right next door! We relaxed by t...he fire, enjoyed the tub and garden, and explored nearby gems like Trentham Falls, Daylesford, and Kyneton. Our stay was peaceful, well-located, and thoughtfully hosted - it was the perfect country getaway and we would definitely recommend!

Stretch your legs and walk up Piper Street, famous for its vintage stores and the Stockroom, a contemporary art gallery that showcases some upcoming Australian artists and designers.
This cool modern art gallery/shop housed in a 1850s Butter Factory was a very nice surprise as something unexpected to come by in such a small town like this one.

Kyneton is rich with arts and culture and holds inspiration inside every store. The Stockroom is an original and unique contemporary art space with a vast array of interesting and thought-provoking work.

On our route back to Melbourne, we stopped by the Kyneton Botanic Gardens for a leisurely stroll along the river with the many birds, crickets and dogs. If you have little ones that need to get their monkey energy out, there's a lovely playground and massive field to run around on. It was hard to come home to the city after such a restful stay in the country.

Little Swallow Cafe

It is a classic cafe in Kyneton that you feel welcome any time of the year. I love a vintage style place, and the Little Swallow Cafe ticked all the boxes with amazing food, welcomed staff, good coffee and the style of the place and boosts history.
