With stunning mountain views, kangaroos grazing at your doorstep and a roaring open log fire, the Mudbrick Cottage creates a space to step back from the hectic pace of modern life.

The cottage offers you 60 acres of beautiful native bushland as your own secluded getaway. A place to unwind and reconnect with life’s simple pleasures, exquisite sunrises, glorious sunsets and some well-earned downtime all set at the foot of the Grampians National Park.

The first thing you may notice of the Mudbrick Cottage is the how naturally this earth formed structure nestles into its natural Australian bush setting.

Upon entering this cottage the warm and welcoming feeling prompts many guests to just soak up the ambience, enjoy the open fire, and dream overlooking the beautiful views of expansive hills and plains.

The Mudbrick Cottage in one of four cottages set on 60 acres so it's a quiet peaceful area, with plenty of space between each cottage to give you total privacy. It's a safe environment for child to roam freely and we have many native animals residing on the property including kangaroos and emus. Plus free range chickens that are very popular with guests.

There is a parking area by the cottage and walking tracks within the property for you to enjoy. There is also a large shared BBQ area for guests. We are 10kms from the centre of Halls Gap.

Fire Wood Policy
We supply one wheelbarrow of wood per day to each cottage.
If you require extra wood during your stay it can be purchased at $15 per wheelbarrow.
We do not operate the fireplaces during the fire season (December, January & February) or on Extreme Fire Days

HALLS GAP
The Cottages are next door to the Halls Gap Zoo and near to Fallen Giants Winery. The Grampians National Park is an area of outstanding natural beauty with many walk tracks and waterfalls to visit whilst based here at the cottages. Halls Gap the town has a number of restaurants and shops to service your needs.

What a hidden gem in the Grampians. Our stay at the Pioneer mud brick cottages was something really special.

The hosts were warm, helpful, and made everything feel easy from the moment we arrived. Th...e space itself was beautifully kept, full of character, and surrounded by nature in the best way.

Waking up to kangaroos and being greeted by the friendliest chickens just added to the whole experience. It felt calm, grounding, and a little bit magical.

Visit the Halls Gap Zoo to see wildlife and have the chance to feed Wallabies, Kangaroos and Deer!

Wildlife Watching

You don't have to look too hard to spot kangaroos, emus, and lots of beautiful birds. You'll be able to see them all around Halls Gap so be extra careful when driving your car. We found a lot of kangaroos and emus chilling on the drive down to Lake Bellfield.
