Additional Information
Our guests consistently highlight: "It's so quiet and serene", "The trails start right out the patio door", and "There's been a lot of care taken to assure everything is here for the guest". It captures a treehouse feel without the climb! Our 5-star reviews are consistent for we take care of you like family.
We simply take pride in knowing our special home is yours! Please consider: Our home is a no-smoking environment, and we ask you to be mindful of this practice. Also, a comfy "no-shoes" practice, leaving boots and shoes by the door, is also appreciated. Thank you.
And finally, the Cottage easily sets up for a family with 1-2 kids for we have a "Shrunks Air Travel Bed" for your younger child and a Queen Air mattress for older guests.
Whatever your needs are or however we can enhance your special occasion, we are ready to make it happen!
The theme, "Mi Casa Su Casa" is how we roll: The cottage will be your special place. We won't be in your way. And you likely won't meet us for we want you to feel like it's your home. However, we can be contacted anytime during your stay if there's anything we can do to make your vacation special. Most notably: If there's a special event or a celebration during your stay, please tell us. We love to make it special for you!
Though only a few miles from the Hood Canal Bridge, we love the location of the Cottage for it's close to everything we love about East Jefferson County: Port Townsend, Chimacum, and the Olympic Peninsula National Park.
It's really an unusual setting: We are in the midst of a quiet forest, within a neighborhood of fine homes but once you turn into our driveway, the whole street and all of the other houses, simply disappear. Seriously, it's quite unique.
Also, please check out the local Port Ludlow Trail System right out the back door by typing in your search "Port Ludlow Walking and Hiking Trails".
Likely, most guests will be driving from either Highway 3, across the Hood Canal Bridge, or through Highway 19, via Chimacum - Port Townsend (or the Olympics). We are in the MOST central location you can imagine.
And what makes the cottage even more special, we are literally steps from the Port Ludlow Nature Trail; check out what locals say: "Port Ludlow has an outstanding system of trails which wind through nearly all of the neighborhoods. There are trails which appeal to both casual and avid walkers and hikers, and are one of the many amenities which help our active retirees stay active, and our working residents stay fit. Some of the trails, such as the Around the Bay Trail, are almost entirely flat, and some of the trails, such as the Timberton Loop and the Rainier Loop have substantial elevation gains."
Also, being "In a village on the bay", you will have easy access to launch your kayaks and canoes right down the street.
Quiet: This is a respite like setting; very quiet. We expect our guests to honor the stillness and quiet solitude within the community.
Pets: By nature, we are "pet friendly". We are mindful that often pets are family. So if your get-away plans require you to bring your furry friends; let's talk this over more. Keep in mind, many of our guests are allergic to pet dander. So likely the Cottage will not be the best stay for you.
Fireplace: We love our Malm vintage 70's fireplace. And so will you. So we are asking our guests to limit use to the following: Only pre-packed logs (one provided in the Winter season) and one burn per visit. The ductless heating system is the most efficient and "green" way to keep the cottage warm. If you are staying for an extended period, again, let's talk about this.
Deck: During the warmer days, the deck becomes a focal point for gathering and hanging out. Just be aware, the rail system is low and we are asking our guests to take pre-caution; do not sit on the rails nor lean; and be aware that the cedar planks may be slippery during the rainy season.

My partner and I, Carmel, love to go on adventures. The love of travel provides the opportunity to play like a kid and explore; it's so much fun to explore this wonderful world, meet new people, and see how we are all so connected. Also, we have been most fortunate to have created a location for like-hearted / minded guests to experience a respite location near the Olympic National Park; in Port Ludlow. Our Cedar Grove Cottage is a very special home; and we look forward to sharing it with guests. Most notably, we have been graced with such a wonderful group of guests through the years, with mindfulness and deep consideration as part of their common thread. Best to you all!
