Additional Information
Conditions of Booking – Keeping Carawirry Wild & Wonderful
We keep things relaxed and easy at Carawirry, but there are a few simple house rules to help protect the land, wildlife, and experience for everyone.
Smoking Outdoors
1. If you smoke, please do so outside, away from doorways and windows.
2. Butts in the bin, not on the ground—no one wants to find those lying around.
3. Fire safety is serious business—especially in dry months. A single ember can spark real trouble in the bush.
Humans Only
Carawirry is brimming with wildlife, and we’d love to keep it that way. Please don’t bring pets—even the well-behaved ones.
Don’t worry, resident wallaby Skip will cure any furry friend withdrawals.
Be Drain Aware
The only thing that should go down the toilet is toilet paper (well, and the other obvious stuff).
A blocked drain in the middle of the forest? Trust us—you don’t want that.
It’s Cool to Be Kind
Respect your fellow guests—Carawirry is a place to switch off and slow down.
Keep noise to a minimum between 9 PM and 9 AM—nature’s soundtrack is already a cracker.
Stick to your space—please don’t wander into other guests’ areas.

What an amazing house! We stayed here in a large group and were very impressed with the size and location. The house itself was comfortable and has top notch facilities and amenities. You are so close... to nature. We saw a lot of wallabies, lizards and even a python at our door in the morning. The pool is a cold plunge pool so only usable during the warmer months.
There are a lot of leeches in this part so ne careful when wandering outside. Heather has provided a compendium in the house which provides all the information about the surrounds which we found helpful.
Thank you for a wonderful stay and we will definitely be back.

Look Out The Window
We were in awe driving through the local forests and took lots of detours because we couldn't get enough! The landscape changed from lush green rainforests to tall plantations and back. There was something new to see out every window every minute! But watch out for kangaroos!
Canoeing At Riverwood Downs
We were able to hire canoes from the kiosk and take it down to the river. The overarching trees and cool water provided us with a much needed cooldown from the heat.

A Short Walk Became An All Day Adventure
We ventured out thinking this was just a little waterfall near a car park. There are two car parks at either end of a stretch of creek, so it can either be a quick stop or a few hours. There was so much to explore. We walked up the creek from the top of the main falls and found more beautiful cascades and swimming pools, we didn't see a single person!
Chichester Dam
The water lifeline to many areas such as Maitland, Cessnock and Beresfield. The Chichester Dam is a great location to have a picnic, check out the dam wall and the river itself. Walk on top of the dam wall and look down on the water beneath or take the walking track down to the bottom of the reservoir for a different perspective.
Dungog Hive Gobbler
Dungog is a quaint country town full of rich history and culture. The locals are extremely friendly and down to earth.
