The Captains Retreat is located in a beach neighborhood with direct saltwater access just steps from the back door. Surrounded by trees you will enjoy privacy from every window while being able to watch passing sailboats and the occasional tug.

The Captains Retreat is roughly 20 minutes from the town of Shelton and 35 minutes from Allyn where you will find grocery stores, restaurants, pubs and activities should you need to stock up or want to dine out.

During this challenging time I, along with my cleaning crew are striving to make our home the safest we can.
This home in on one level so easily accessible for people with mobility issues. There is a slightly inclined walkway leading to the outside gazebo where you can sit and enjoy the west facing views of the sound. There is a gravel walkway with terraced stairs leading to the fire pit and ending at the staircase that takes you to the beach.

We are Northwest natives who love our little corner of the world. We have 2 sons - our eldest has recently graduated from one of Washington's finest and our youngest is finishing his first year at Purdue. We enjoy travelling and have lived overseas. We frequently entertain our friends and family and love to share our beach house with them. We walked into this house and immediately knew this was the one! It has always been our dream to have a beach house - we are pinching ourselves and counting every blessing still not quite believing it is ours. We are making memories and creating a family home in this house. It is perfect for us - we hope you enjoy it too!

Clams And Oysters

All you have to do is step out onto the beach at low tide and there are oysters everywhere. Scrape the surface of the rocks and sand and you will find manilla clams. We scavenged the most delicious dinner appetizers right in the backyard of this cabin. My boyfriend barbecued the oysters and I cooked manilla clams.

Row Boating With Seals

My friend and I decided to use the cabin's rowboat to go on a little aquatic stroll right off of the beach. I passed the camera torch to her husband to capture us enjoying the peaceful atmosphere and the curiosity of our new seal friends. There were five or six of them that just swam around us, intermittently popping their little heads out of the water to check us out. It was adorable and had us laughing really hard! Seagulls got in on the fun as well, dive-bombing the water to fish for dinner. So much entertainment right in the backyard!

Fishing Rod (2)

We have a small 2 person rowboat with 2 adult lifejackets for your use. There is a boat launch down the beach that you can access if you'd like to bring your personal boat.
I also have contact info if you are interested in renting kayaks. They will happily deliver for a nominal feel.
