Additional Information

Pin Oak house is one of the oldest houses in Mansfield and was restored by a local artist and craftsman. The garden was designed as a retreat where you leave the street behind. It has a distinctly French feel and we have furnished the inside of the house to reflect this. It is our third listed Riparide house. Our places are surrounded by beautiful gardens in town or by rolling farm land. All have a distinctive tree and are good for the soul!

It is located on one of the oldest and main streets of Mansfield and is centrally located. It is a five minute walk to our French patisserie where you will be greeted by Amanda and I recommend getting a baguette for lunch and some fresh croissants for breakfast!

As you enter the front verandah you will pass a pretty front garden with a pond and fish. Through the front door you are greeted by a hallway with bedrooms on either side. We have provided French linen on the beds with beautiful St Albans mohair rugs to ensure a cosy night sleep. The bedrooms look out to the pretty front garden.

Through the hallway is the sitting room with linen sofas and Morris and co roman blinds. There is a fireplace to warm up next to with a book and a glass of wine on Winter evenings and a cosy place to gather with family and friends. There is also a smart TV above the fireplace and plenty of room to lie back on the sofa and watch a movie.

Off the sitting room is a lovely bedroom that looks out on the courtyard through French windows.

As continue you on there is a formal dining room to gather around after preparing a feast. It looks out on French doors through a communal space with easy access to the kitchen. The artist who helped design the garden was also a chef and has designed functional well equipped kitchen with views of the garden. It has an Asko dishwasher and a walk in pantry.

There is a dedicated work space off the kitchen - it's also a nice nook for a cup of tea in the morning!

The laundry is located off the dining room and has an asko washing machine. It also has plenty of room to store skis and ski boots. You access the bathroom through the laundry. It is a lovely space and privately located from the living areas.

You can head out the French doors to the verandah for some quiet contemplation or head out to the gravel garden under the Pin Oak to play Bocce. There is also a vegetable patch and herbs. Feel free to pick something if it is in season.

This is a peaceful house with a beautiful garden and we are very grateful to the people who created it. It has been a joint project with my son, Oscar, who has completed a Bachelor of Design at Melbourne University and his Masters of Urban Planning. We look forward to sharing it with others.

We welcome pets but they need to remain in the areas of the houses that are not carpeted. They will have access to hard surfaces areas. We ask that you be responsible and clean up after your pets.

Guests a liable for any damage done to the property or it's contents. They are liable to pay for damage up to the value to put in the original condition that they found it as per the beginning of their occupancy of the property.

If you book for a minimum two people the only bedroom available for use is the bedroom adjacent to the sitting room with queen size bed.

Oozing charm & character throughout in a great location only short stroll to the local shopping strip. It was also the perfect dog friendly accommodation - stayed with a friend we both took our dogs and as the place was securely fenced we could let them run around feeling confident they were safe.

I have lived in Mansfield for the last 28 years and after completing a Bachelor of Commerce degree at Monash University, Clayton, worked as an accountant and a primary producer. The family run a pastoral company and hardware stores. We live not far from town in an off grid house on a farm and try to be as self sufficient as possible which although rewarding is a lot of hard work. We have 3 children who all went to the local Steiner school. I still have my youngest there in Grade 3 and am a current board member on the Governance Committee. The older two finished their senior years at boarding school and we have done a lot of skiing, hiking and bike riding in this region. I'm surrounded by a wide age range of young adventurers and I am well placed to provide local information on great ways to enjoy this fabulous area! I was introduced to Riparide by some young Americans who were staying at the hut and thought it was a great fit. I love your site and have recommended it to many people. I also have a house in Mansfield that is half 40's/60's surrounded by a lush established garden which I will list in due course. I want to provide guests an experience that will have them leaving feeling that their life has been enhanced. Big ask but if they get out and do the adventures they are guaranteed to leave feeling better!

We loved getting to know the local farmers and buy some fresh local treats to eat at the cabin. This market is held year-round on the 4th Saturday of the month.

Merchant Coffee Roasters

On our supply run into Mansfield, we fueled up for the afternoon with some of the finest roasted beans at a well-known local favourite, Merchant Coffee Roasters. The atmosphere there had a cool and friendly vibe. While waiting for our coffee, the food orders we saw coming out of the kitchen looked incredible, but we already made grand plans to get stuck into the epic kitchen back at the barn.

Tasting a broad variety of wines by the fireplace or having a glass of white in the lovely backyard. Their delicious reserve Gewurztraminer reminded me of my years studying in Alsace.
