Kookaburra Cottage

"Kookaburra Cottage" is a modern eco cottage, built 2017.

Nestled into a private valley on our property, home to gliding kookaburras, magpies, blue wrens, wallabies and echidnas. Nearby Mount Cole State Forest is home to 130 species of birds and an abundance of walking tracks. The cottage has many eco features throughout, including double glazed windows, eco-ply interiors and organic cotton bed linen. Warm in Winter with reverse cycle heating and cool in Summer (air conditioned).

Two bedrooms, each with ensuite.
Spacious self cater kitchen including dishwasher, induction cooktop, oven, fridge / freezer.

Wood burning chiminea on the deck.

Cottage is situated on our 13 acre block of scattered bush.

All renewable electricity in use; solar panels supplemented by purchase of 100% GreenPower accredited grid electricity.
Water supply is filtered and UV sanitised.

Update:
Mount Cole was devastated by a large bushfire in February 2024 that also burnt through our property. 12 of our 13 acres were totally blackened.
We lost several important buildings including the much loved 1995 meditation temple (a pentagonal shaped mudbrick building with its jarrah parquetry floor and a very impressive oregon timber suspended ceiling). It was very sad to lose that building; a great yoga and chill out space.
Fortunately the two cottages survived. Kookaburra Cottage had been built to BAL40, quite a high fire rating. I am sure that helped a lot.
The surrounding garden was mostly destroyed though was replanted a few months later. In some of the photos you can see the burnt tree trunks in the background. Thanks to the ongoing guest visitors who certainly help to brighten up what has been a challenging year!
