A stand alone cabin is set above the red wood and eucalyptus trees with sweeping views over Omaha Beach and Harbour. The cabin is a retreat with serene natural landscapes only 4 kilometers from the quaint and vibrant Matakana Village, 15 minutes from Omaha Beach and 30 minutes from the the pristine surf beaches of Tauwharanui.

The cabin is self contained with fresh rain water, and an outside shower where you can watch the boats come and go. You can enjoy all the comforts of a lush down duvet and pure cotton bed linen whilst enjoying the peace and quiet of the deep hills. You will have total privacy, peace and a spectacular view over to Omaha Beach. During the Summer months you are welcome to make use of our heated pool beside the main house.

We look forward to meeting you during your relaxing escape into beautiful Mother Nature!

Please note the Red Woods Cabin is a short walk down the hill so please take that into account.

Such a lovely and relaxing stay @ Red Woods Cabin. Sharyn made the arrival process so smooth taking our bags down the hill for us in her buggy and after a quick walk around the Sculptureum we decided ...an evening picnic in our cabin was preferable to a meal out - and it was. Slept so well and woke to a stunning sunrise. The cabin has everything you need for cosy night away. We feel refreshed… and we will be back!

Leigh Sawmill is an institution in the area serving up legendary pizzas, delicious beer, frequent live gigs and more; it's one local eatery you don't want to miss. If you're lucky you might also be able to grab a fresh fruit ice cream from Rama's Real Fruit Ice Cream cart outside!

Goat Island

Goat Island or Okakari Point Marine Reserve was New Zealand's first marine reserve. It was established in 1975 and in less than 10 years it became a rich ecological area, teeming with fish and other sea life.
Beneath the waves habitats range from rocky shores and sand flats to deep reefs, underwater cliffs and canyons. Each habitat has its own community of sea creatures.

Wine Tasting At Matakana Estate

Drive past the endless winding vines to reach the Matakana Estate Cellar Door atop the hill, with sweeping views of the vineyard and surrounding area. I enjoyed four incredible wines accompanied by an indulgent platter, before taking a stroll around the grounds to absorb the beautiful views. It's definitely not a bad way to spend an afternoon!
