Pet-friendly
Escape from the rat race to a cute and cosy retro fisherman’s cottage on Scotland Island in beautiful Pittwater. A secluded waterfront retreat with its own private jetty and beach and stunning water views.
Relax, unwind, and enjoy!

The open plan interior features an eclectic mix of nautical antiques, shells and fishing collectables gathered from travels and forages along the beach and original creations by your host Sophie, a classically trained artist.

Ideally suited to a couple, the cottage can expand to accommodate up to six and welcomes children and families or friend groups.

The kitchen is fully equipped with all the necessaries for basic or gourmet cooking.

We love animals and your furry friends are welcome to join you on your holiday.

Kayaks, paddle boards and fishing gear are provided and many other extras can be arranged locally including catering, local tours and boat trips, massages, fishing charters, whale watching etc.

Visit Ku-ring-gai national park with its beautiful nature and wildlife, bush walks and indigenous heritage sites, or let the wildlife come to you - lorikeets, cockatoos, king parrots, currawongs and kookaburras are frequent visitors to the deck.

I can provide you with contact details for the following extra services which are available locally:

Boat hire
Yacht hire
Sailing lessons
Fishing charters
Whale watching
Seaplane trips
Guided bush walks and tours
Yoga classes
Art workshops
Writing workshops
Babysitting

Pampering extras such as massages and facials are available, and a personal chef or other catering options can be arranged.

If you have a boat or are hiring a boat you can tie up at the jetty. You will need to bring ropes and fenders. I have a deepwater swing mooring in front of the property that can be hired for larger boats for an additional fee as long as there is advance notice.

Late check out or early check can be booked in advance for $50 per hour depending whether there are other bookings before or after you, please let me know your preferred arrival time and check out time when you book.

Feel free to ask about anything else you may require - most goods and services are available given enough notice!

Please note that there are no shops on the island - you'll need to bring your food with you from the mainland. There are a full range of supermarkets, bakeries, butchers, fruit and veg markets, deli's, and bottle shops in Mona Vale, or the general store at Church Point stocks most items, and has a bottle shop and restaurant/cafe.

Once you've booked I will send you some info and more details about the property and how to get here.

Dog on leads can catch the ferry, and the water taxi will usually take small to medium size well behaved dogs - best to ask the individual driver on the day.
Dogs need to be on a lead on the island but not on the property itself. The deck has gates at each entry point so your pets can be safely contained on the property. Please supervise your dogs any time they are off lead as there are always children, chickens and native birds and animals around.
Please poop scoop and generally tidy up after your pet both on the property and around the island.

The property is able to be pre booked for private events, weddings, photoshoots, commercial filming etc. There are separate fees applicable for these bookings.

Any other questions please ask!

Rest, relax and enjoy some down time in this peaceful and private oasis away from the hustle and bustle of the mainland.

Escape to paradise!

Additional Information

Scotland Island is a unique water access community, one of only two residential islands in Sydney. We have the best of both worlds - a sense of being separate from the noise and bustle of the mainland, but within easy reach of the good stuff ( movies, restaurants, cafes, bars and live music venues). We are adjacent to Ku-ring-gai National Park and there are many beautiful bushwalks, scenic lookouts, waterfalls and indigenous heritage sites on our doorstep.
Kayak to the cafe for coffee in the morning or catch the ferry over for a sundowner with some great local live music.
The native birds will feed from your hand on the deck and you can catch your dinner from the jetty. Sit around the waterfront fire pit and watch the sun set over the water. Escape to paradise!

A little note: Sound carries on the water, especially at night, and the island is a very quiet place in the evenings. This is part of the peace and tranquility of the place and we respectfully ask guests to please try to keep the noise down after 10 pm if you are out on the deck or on the jetty or waterfront area in the evening.
And smoking is outdoors only. (Vaping inside is fine)

Lovely little getaway- beautiful location, very peaceful listening to the birds in the morning. Great space for dogs - they loved running around and exploring the beach. Highly recommend for a weekend escape from the city

Simply, Bliss! A great little find so close to Sydney!

We had such a fantastic mini break here. The space was clean, well designed and Sophie had thought of everything you could need or want for an u...ltra relaxing (or active!) stay.

Sophie and her family are incredibly warm, welcoming and knowledgeable about how to get the best out of the area and your stay.

Would 100% recommend and cannot wait to head back here in the future.

I'm a classically trained oil painter specialising in portrait paintings, an avid reader, obsessive traveller, music lover and mother of one cool kid. I was born and bred in Pittwater and have a deep connection to this beautiful and very special place. I like a cup of earl grey tea in the morning and at the end of the day a glass of wine on the deck, watching the evening colours come in across the water.

Lovett Bay Waterfall

A beautiful secluded waterhole with shallow pools, perfect for a refreshing swim on a warm day. At the top of the waterfall you are rewarded with views out over the Hawkesbury River. Located in the middle of a National Park this is a wonderfully peaceful spot away from the main walking trail.

Portuguese Beach

We hiked to Portuguese beach up through the meanders of Ku-Ring-Gai National Park, home to wildlife and historic aboriginal art. At the peak we found a vantage point helping us spot some ideal swimming holes, where we later explored by foot and kayak.
