Classic Kiwi Escape

Nestled in behind a large Pōhutukawa tree, little Claris the caravan sits cute as a button and full of kiwi vintage charm. Kitted out with all the essentials and picnic spaces aplenty. Situated at the base of Ōmana Clifftop Campground – a perfectly manicured park overlooking the Hauraki Gulf, Waiheke Island and back over Auckland City. A stunning view as the sun rises and casts a warm glow over the park.

There's plenty to explore in the area. Several walking tracks, including one that passes right by Claris which leads to a little bay suitable for paddle boarding and swimming (at high tide).

We sampled the local coffee and top-notch toasted sammies from Coastal Cafe in Maraetai before heading off on our adventure up the 'Stairway to heaven' at Clevedon Scenic Reserve, a 20 min drive away. Lots of stairs as the name would suggest but easily distracted by the beautiful New Zealand bush and lovely bird song. A stop at Hallertau to rehydrate and recharge is highly recommended. They offer a great selection of locally brewed beers and delicious food.

Back to Claris to unwind and an evening of games on the lawn as the sun set. Watching the moon rise amongst the stars was the perfect end to a day of exploring. Your quintessential kiwi summer holiday experience!

Walk through the Clevedon scenic reserve. Head in to the base of the abandoned quarry and then up and around the scenic reserve. With all the stairs you'll want to stop for a breather - do so at the lookout and take in the view at the top.

Sample the delicious food and locally brewed beer on the menu. The beef brisket krokets are highly recommended. Enjoy the atmosphere and try your hand at the outdoor games.
Try seriously tasty toasted sandwiches and delicious Kokako coffee from Coastal Cafe Maraetai.
