Cosy Little Bush Shack
Adventure in Naringal East, Great Ocean Road, VIC, AU
On a stormy, cloudy weekend, we packed up the car for the three-hour drive to a cosy bush shack in Naringal, not far from the Great Ocean Road. It was the perfect opportunity for us to escape our busy work and city life in Melbourne. When we arrived, we were greeted by nothing but wilderness and tranquillity. With beautiful scenery, minimal reception and no bright lights, the bush shack was the perfect way to wind down.
We woke up to the sounds of birds and rain – a euphoric, calming feeling as we prepared for our day. We sat on the balcony drinking coffee, spotting the different species of birds and even catching a glimpse of a koala. We then checked out the coastal town of Port Campbell, which was 30 minutes from the shack, where we enjoyed breakfast at Grassroots Deli Cafe and browsed the surf shops.
After Port Campbell, we continued down the Great Ocean Road on a scenic drive to the Twelve Apostles. We stopped off at Gibson Steps, where a steep staircase takes you right down to the ocean. Here, you're able to enjoy a fantastic view of the Twelve Apostles with crashing waves in the background.
Later in the afternoon, we settled back in the cosy bush shack to relax for the duration of the day. We enjoyed the bath overlooking the scenic bush with red wine in hand and the night ended with us sitting by the fire, eating dinner, followed by a movie in bed as the rain fell on the tin roof. This place was perfect for us to find peace and serenity in between all of our adventures.
