The Beautiful Cape Cottage

Cape Cottage is situated off the Great Ocean Road in Glenaire, overlooking the trees down to the ocean. We woke early to watch the sunrise down at the stunning Castle Cove, just a minute's drive from the cabin. Afterwards, we kept warm by the roaring indoor fireplace and relaxed in the spa bath. Next, we decided to explore the towering trees in the redwood forest, including Congram Creek, then hiked to the Hopetoun Falls. We stopped past The Perch at Lavers Hill on our way home, where we enjoyed some hot chocolate, coffee and chips. And later at night, we prepared tasty tacos and enjoyed a meal together by the fire – a movie on the flatscreen TV was the perfect way to end the day. It was an incredible, adventurous stay at comfortable Cape Cottage.

The hike to Hopetoun Falls is short and steep but so rewarding. These are some incredibly beautiful falls.

The giant redwood trees of the Otways are always spectacular. Make your way down the winding track, following a creek, and lose yourself in this gorgeous forest.

We went to Castle Cove for both sunrise and a sunset walk. The waves here are great for experienced surfers, as there are strong rips, but the views are just as enjoyable from the lookout.
