Peaceful Puggle Hut Escape
Adventure in Paraparap, Great Ocean Road, VIC, AU
Puggle Hut, which is perched on a hill and surrounded by trees, was the perfect escape to end a long week in Melbourne. The large windows, deck, clear roof above the shower, and the half-outdoor entryway to the bathroom made us feel as if we were part of nature throughout our stay. Due to limited reception, we took the opportunity to unplug and reconnect with each other and our natural surroundings.
With bread, milk, jam, and butter provided, the kitchen was equipped with everything we needed to prepare and enjoy our meals. The cabin's indoor heating helped us stay warm and cosy throughout the weekend, despite the cold and intermittent rain (and rainbows!).
The cabin’s location was perfect for exploring the local area, with each of our mini adventures less than 30 minutes away – we enjoyed delicious local beers, food, live music, stand-up paddle boarding and admiring the Great Ocean Road’s gorgeous scenery.
The outdoor fireplace, equipped with ready-chopped wood, was the best way to spend an evening. This, along with many beautiful details designed and prepared by hosts Kylee and Tim (who we were lucky enough to meet, along with their friendly dogs), made this an unforgettable getaway.

Things We Did
- Brewery
- Lookout
- Surf
- Walk
- Standup Paddle
Blackman’s is one of our favourite craft beers, so we were delighted to visit their Torquay Restaurant & Brewery. Our visit coincided with a brief live musical performance – winning!
Located high above the sandstone cliffs that fall into Bass Strait, this lookout provides an unobstructed view of Jan Juc Surf Beach.
Whether you’re a surfer or just enjoy watching the waves, this is a great place to relax and pet friendly local dogs.
Explore this well-established track from Bells Beach, and immerse yourself in nature for as long as you have time for!
Take a SUP ride along the Anglesea River and get the core workout of your dreams.
Rain or shine, Loveridge Lookout has a pergola to provide shelter. Watch the surfers at Anglesea Beach. Observe the expansive panorama of the Bass Strait that seems to go on forever. Catch the sunset if you can!
