Tales of Tintenbar

Nestled in a quaint rural neighborhood, perched among beautiful tropical gardens above a rock wall sits the stunning Tintenbarn property. We drove the scenic country back roads of the hinterland, stopping off at Killen Falls before settling into our home for the weekend.

The golden afternoon sun poured through the venetian blinds illuminating the wonderfully designed space. The rustic yet modern abode features unique, stylish handmade wooden and steel details such as the large rolling barn doors and beautiful dining table complimenting polished concrete floors and corrugated iron walls.

We made some snacks, crafted a fire and watched the sun go down over the rolling hills as the sky faded from blue to vibrant orange-and-purple hues. We woke to the sounds of birds, excited for another day of exploring in Bundjalung Country. We hit the road along the coast, from East Ballina to Lennox Heads, visiting beaches, cafes, and Tea Tree Lake. Finally, we grabbed dinner in Bangalow and went home to recharge and watch a movie before whale watching on Sunday morning.

Witness the great migration! This was truly one of the most amazing moments, up close with the incredible humpback whales as they migrate north. We boarded the 'Bay Warrior' in Brunswick Heads, led by Blue Bay Whale Watching, and enjoyed a magical morning out on the water.

We spent a lazy, rejuvenating afternoon at Lake Ainsworth, also known as 'Tea Tree Lake'. The water has a unique deep red hue, due to the oils infused from the surrounding trees. We watched the ducks and rowers glide across the surface as the sun crept lower in the sky.

An afternoon in the sun spent in eating fish 'n' chips by the river and playing in the surf in Brunswick Heads – this funky little beach town really has it all.

We stopped off for dinner in Bangalow and enjoyed wood-fired pizza, and pasta, at the small neighbourhood restaurant Ciao Mate. The food and the vibes were on point.

We drove the beautiful scenic country roads to Killen Falls. After a short walk down a track, along the beautiful babbling river, we arrived at a large pool at the base. Nature really put on a show as the light trickled through the mist from the falls, creating magical sun beams. This is the perfect spot to cool off and enjoy a picnic.

We watched the skies fade from blue to pink as the tide lapped the shoreline and the surfers caught the last waves for the day.
