Sanctuary by the City

Adventure in Auckland, NZ
On arrival at the Rose Cottage, we were greeted with the smell of freshly baked bread and a handwritten card from our hosts welcoming us. Although only half an hour from Auckland City, the Rose Cottage felt a million miles away from the hustle and bustle. The property was surrounded by beautiful gardens and a variety of farm animals including inquisitive ponies we were able to hand feed! The large outdoor bath beside the cottage was an added bonus. Ideal in the evening when you can take in the stars above with a glass of local wine in hand.

Waking to birdsong and fresh country air was a relaxing way to start the day and explore the local attractions. We visited the local CCT Lavender Farm and Cafe. The cafe was spacious and included a small store selling local lavender supplies. Following this, we went for a 15min drive to Clarks Beach. A picturesque bay with quirky cribs sitting meters from the shore.

Before leaving our accommodation we had an opportunity to plant a native tree. This was a unique way to finish our trip and leave a lasting positive impact.
