Back to Nature
Adventure in Bundeena, Sydney, NSW, AU
At the end of the road lies the beginning of a new adventure. When you come to a place like this there is only one thing to do, clock off. Driving through the national park, we are grinning from ear to ear as we arrive at ‘George’. The natural sunlight beamed through the northeast-facing windows overlooking a spectacular view of Port Hacking, Cronulla and all the way to Cape Bailey lighthouse. This place is nothing short of coastal lux, with a crisp white interior, tapered VJ ceilings and beautiful finishings. George had everything we needed, allowing us to unwind and relax. This really is a little slice of paradise.
After a walk up to the north end of Jibbon Beach, a nap in the sun, a couple of swims and an accidental tread on a harmless numb ray we headed back to George for some cheese and bubbles. Nestling into what became our favourite window nook, we watched as the sunset made way for the moon to rise, glowing off the waters of Bate Bay. The next day we completely immersed ourselves in the Royal National Park. We were hearing waterfalls before finding them, sharing trails with echidnas, swimming in a freshwater oasis with our new water dragon friends and watching whales dance off Marley Beach. As close as you are to the city this place really makes you feel like you are as far from civilisation as possible.
An evening spent chasing a moon rise off the eastern side of Jibbon Beach. The well-established trails all around Bundeena will get you to some special places. Finding a secluded viewing platform, we cracked a bottle of wine and reminisced on the day we had just had. With a fully equipped kitchen, we cooked up a roast chicken and settled in for the evening. After a morning swim at Jibbon Beach and a rinse off in the outdoor shower at ‘George’, we started our last day off with a coffee and banana bread from Earth Thingz. A small eclectic café offering tasty treats, fresh produce great coffee. Before making our way home a trip to Wattamolla Beach was the perfect way to end our great reset. A waterfall leading into a freshwater creek that runs out into a beautiful bay.
With its unique location, homely features, and affordable price we cannot wait to be back and try one of the other stays on the Ethel and Odes property.

Grab your loved one and find your spot on the east side of Jibbon Beach. Wine is optional, highly encouraged!
No better way to start the day than by getting sandy and salty.
To kick off our second day exploring the Royal National Park, we stopped in at Earth Thingz cafe for a caffeine hit with a side of toasted banana bread. We couldn't help ourselves and grabbed a few more treats to enjoy on the road.
The Bundeena drive to Marley Beach trail offers everything. Get deep into the Australian Bushland, cool off at the freshwater Deer Pool oasis, emerge onto a rugged and rocky coastline then relax on the crisp white sandy beach. Take it all in.
The perfect combination of waterfall, creek and beach. This place is insane. It can be busy during warmer months and on weekends. To avoid the crowds go midweek if you can.
