Quiet Serenity at Ellerslie Cottage
Adventure in Glenhope, Macedon Ranges, VIC, AU
We arrived at beautiful Ellerslie Cottage on Tuesday and were immediately in awe of how quiet and peaceful it was. We sat down for a cup of tea on the porch and unpacked our things, before heading down the road to Kyneton, a short fifteen minute drive away. We visited Botanik, a beautiful historic hotel that had been converted into a gift shop and a cocktail bar upstairs. We had a drink on the plant covered rooftop, and then went to pick up some dinner ingredients at the local grocer. We drove back to Ellerslie and took a nap in the sun in the garden, and then lit a fire and played board games for the rest of the evening.
The next morning we woke up to sunshine streaming into the cottage, and we ate local pastries for breakfast. We headed to Hanging Rock where we walked up the mountain to see the breathtaking views over the Macedon Ranges. We stopped at the Hanging Rock Winery for lunch of charcuterie and wine, and also to soak up the sun in their stunning vineyard garden. Then we drove back and decided to venture down to the river at the bottom of the property, where we sat and watched dragonflies dance and listened to the frogs croak. We headed back up the hill to make pasta in the kitchen, and sat by the outdoor campfire while we ate. After the sun set we sat by the indoor fire and played card games.
We were so sad to leave on Thursday morning and it was especially hard to get out of the comfiest bed ever! But we packed up our things and headed back to the city.
