Among the Gum Trees

We escaped the city to the peaceful serenity of be&be, a unique property nestled on a hill amongst the gum trees.

As we stepped inside, we were greeted by the rich scent of wood and surrounded by bespoke timber furniture and all-natural materials - providing a deep sensory experience. The design of this property is simply stunning, with picture windows offer breathtaking views of the horizon that allow light to dance between the Venetian blinds throughout the day.

During our stay, we explored the charming towns of Maldon and Chewton, we sipped local beers at the pub, wandered through gardens, waved at trains, visited the Royal Theatre, Buda House, and the Castlemaine Vintage Bizaar.

However, the highlight of our getaway was undoubtedly be&be. The feng shui of this space is harmonizing, creating a sense of calm and isolation from the abundant birdlife and surrounding trees. It's the perfect spot to retreat to after a day of exploring, a calming space to relax and unwind.

With its stunning design, harmonious feng shui, and breathtaking views, it truly was a one-of-a-kind experience.

WOW! The food here was incredible, we had the fish curry, palak paneer and beetroot paneer with garlic naan. The staff were so warm and the food was fresh and tasty - some of the best curries we've ever had!

We decided to learn about some of the local gold rush era history. We explored the heritage-listed historic house and garden 'Buda' named after Budapest by its Hungarian owner who raised 10 children here.

We sat in a booth admiring the cosy decor sipping on a couple of local brews. We only planned on staying for one, but the music was on point, the staff were so warm and friendly we ordered a couple more rounds and some cheese toasties. Safe to say I'm going to be dreaming about that mouth watering snack for some time to come.

You can't visit Castlemaine and not swing by The Theatre Royal. Australia's oldest and continually operating theatre! Standing tall on the main street we pulled in for coffee and checked out their programme.
