We can't recommend heading to DULC Mountain Deluxe enough, a nature lover's paradise nestled in the Grampians. After a 5-hour drive from Bright, we arrived in this serene setting. The cabin's rustic charm, rugged timber, and expansive glass windows immersed us in Australia's bushland. The highlight? A glass-roofed shower leads out to a beautiful spa to enjoy while stargazing.
We dined at Flame Brothers Restaurant and Bar, savouring smoked meats. Back at the cabin, we enjoyed wine by the crackling fire.
The next morning, we watched the sunrise at Boroka Lookout, just 25 minutes away. Then, we cooked breakfast in the well-equipped kitchen and enjoyed it on the balcony. We explored Ararat's Mountain Bike Trails, encountering numerous kangaroos on the Kangaroo Loop. On a warm September day, we visited Venus Baths, a refreshing but chilly spot.
Our stay at the DULC Mountain Deluxe allowed us to disconnect and appreciate nature. If we find ourselves in the Grampians we will definitely be staying again.
Flame Brothers is one not to miss! We were drawn to the smoked meats and we indulged ourselves in some slow-cooked pork ribs, delicious sides and local whiskey. The staff were super friendly and gave us some insight into what activities to do around the area.
Boroka Lookout is only a short 100m walk from the car park. Perfect for those who want to wake up early to capture the sunrise, but don't want to start out at 4am with head torches in order to get to an elevated point for the views.
The Kangaroo Loop is Ararat MTB trails, a classic ride. We wondered why it was called Kangaroo Loop until setting off on the ride. We saw almost 30 kangaroos in the first 10km, this ride is more of an XC track although definitely worth checking out!
We started our walk from the tennis courts which are situated almost in the centre of town. We made our way through the botanical gardens and ventured our way towards the Baths. The walk was around 15 minutes and relatively easy. Suitable for all ages this close-to-town gem is one not to be missed. A great spot to go for a dip in the middle of the day, our tip would be not to go too early or too late as the mountains block the direct light shining onto what can be icy alpine waters.
