Unwind in charming Portarlington

We were lucky enough to escape for a few days to the quaint town of Portarlington, also known as Wathaurong Country. Our Riparide, the Bellarine Beach Shack, was the perfect place to have as a base for a weekend of relaing and exploring.

We spent much of our time breathing in the sea breeze, and enjoying the ocean views from the cosy shack. We watched the sunsets, and enjoyed a crackling indoor fire playing scramble. We spent our days visiting distilleries, the lighthouse in Point Lonsdale, exploring Queenscliffs charming strip of shops, and of-course, we enjoyed being in each other's company. It was truly a blissfull and memorable stay at the Bellarine Beach Shack.

If you're looking to witness the ocean's vast shoreline, look no further than the Point Lonsdale lighthouse! We strolled a few km's along the shoreline, simply enjoying Point Lonsdale's beautiful flora and fauna and absorbing the sun's rays. The perfect stroll if you're looking to unwind and disconnect from Melbourne's hustle and bustle for the afternoon.

Think cocktails made out of native ingredients, local cheeses and wide open space. This is Bellarine DIstillery! We enjoyed an array of differing cocktails, exchanging laughs and memories over a few nibblies out in the sunshine to conclude our busy day.

For this adventure I thought I would explore a different way of getting to our accommodation, and the ferry from docklands to portarlington made perfect sense. It was a joy to sit and feel the breeze on the back deck for the hour journey rather than trudge down the freeway through Geelong. Taking a bike on board to get around at the other end was a gamechanger and something I'll be doing again.
