Great Ocean Retreat

We ventured south to escape the end of the year hustle, and from the moment we opened the door of the cozy native retreat, we felt a complete release from all our burdens. The whole home is designed for cosy comfort with thoughtful touches in all the rooms. Even though we were hit with heavy rain showers and cloudy skies for our entire stay, there was so much to do within the retreat that it would have been hard to leave it for longer anyway.

We started our days with a warm outdoor bath or shower, unwinding for hours while admiring the landscape. Between two drops, we were able to make a nice warm campfire, play some outdoor games and relax with a book on the outdoor hammock chair.

The rest of our stay was spent with local adventures. The cabin's location is so perfect that we could just use the host's e-bikes to wander around. We enjoyed delicious fish tacos, picked up sweet strawberries at the local farm, and explored the beautiful wild Jan Juc before walking the 11km of the Point Addis and Bells beach loop trail.

We loved coming back to the warm retreat, which just felt like home; treating ourselves with the amazing cheese and charcuterie hamper offered by the host and chilling in the reading nook. This place was genuinely special. We felt rejuvenated and ready for the chaos of the festive season.

Picking fresh fruits, direct from the paddock direct to her mouth, is our toddlers favourite activity! This family-owned farm is the perfect fun experience for the whole family and to have sweet strawberries to enjoy during your getaway. Strawberry Picking Season - October/November to late April.

Jan Juc is a beautiful beach to stroll at on a rainy or sunny evening. The perfect place to relax, listen to the waves crashing, feel the sand under your feet and admire the rugged cliffs.

We hiked the beautiful 10.8km long loop trail from Bell Beach to Point Addis. A nice little adventure that involves amazing beach views, rock scrambles, climbs up and down rolling sandhills, and forest strolls through scrubby gums, wattle, and lots of tiny paper daisies. The path is well marked and possible while carrying a toddler.
