Mediterranean Sun (In Melbourne)

As the winding drive between giant mountain ashes and tree fern opened to rolling hills, we caught glimpses of the magnificent building of Mont Du Soleil perched on its hill. This French-inspired property is lovingly crafted from salvaged materials - it glows with warmth and detail at every turn. Weathered beams, reclaimed boards and natural walls, all add to the rustic charm.

We didn't want to leave the cottage. The feeling of being transported overseas was intoxicating, but we managed to go out and about to see some of the wonderful natural beauty of the Dandenong Ranges. Walking through the lush forests of the Dandenongs fills your lungs and soul with calm and serenity, and a sense of connection, which we crave more and more in this digital age.

While we travelled around the hills, we stopped in at a few cafes, lookouts and even a cheeky winery for some local produce. This is the perfect couples slow stay, whether you hide away in the embrace of the cottage or venture out for the beauty surrounding it.

A beautiful and expansive place to walk, hike, picnic and explore. The arboretum has a wide variety of bushland, lakes, ornamental trees and wildlife. We didn't manage a photo but we could hear lyrebirds calling the whole time we visited.

A beautiful family owned winery where you feel like part of the family. We tried their chardonnay and rosé which were 10/10.

The 40-acre property has cows, horses, ponies, sheep and geese around - plus the birds and wildlife that comes wandering by.

Delicious freshly baked goods, amazing coffee and pantry stocked with local produce. This is a must-visit for the Dandenong Ranges.
A little secret on a back street, this view is incredible early morning when there's fog hanging in the valley.
