Wood Cabin Farm Stay

We ventured down the winding roads of Monbulk and onto a gravel path, where two curious alpacas welcomed us to our log cabin farm stay. As dusk settles, the cabin's warm glow and crackling fireplace set the scene for a cozy retreat. Indy, the friendly Border Collie, greeted us warmly and became a regular visitor throughout our stay - which we loved.

The evening continues with a luxurious bath in a stunning bathroom, its floor-to-ceiling window offering countryside views of the nearby paddock with animals settling down for the day. We sat by the fireplace with a glass of red, and let the day melt away.

Mornings begin with hot coffee by the fire before exploring Belgrave's quaint main street and tucking into a hearty breakfast at Earthly Pleasures Cafe. Afternoons were perfect for forest walks and discovering the farm's diverse animal residents. Later that evening we headed to the Belgrave Lantern Festival for lights and a bit to eat.

Days here are spent unplugging and rejuvenating, with ample opportunities to interact with the animals, many of which are rescues – adding a heartwarming touch to the stay. The lovely owner, Bek, encourages guests to spend time with the gentle horses and friendly chickens which is such a great experience, you can pat, cuddle, and give them a brush.

Don't miss the adventure-style picnic experience, a very fun treasure hunt that leads you to various produce around the property's bushland. The journey finished at a hilltop picnic complete with wine and amazing farm views, this was our favourite experience. This farm stay offers the perfect balance of on-site activities and nearby walks and cafes. For animal lovers seeking a nature retreat, this humble getaway is a must-add to your travel bucket list.

Starting with a little clue inside a picnic basket left on our doorstep, we followed clues to find produce around the property. This very fun hunt led us through forest and past animals to a picnic rug with wine, laid out on a hill overlooking the beautiful farm views.

This gem is housed in a stunning historic building surrounded by lovely gardens that serve up ethically sourced food and great coffee. We ordered the eggs benny and it was worth every sent. A great stop in if in the area.
