Tree House in the Otways
Adventure in Pennyroyal, Great Ocean Road, VIC, AU
Arriving at the treehouse was a beautiful experience. We were welcomed with the scent of Sandalwood and expansive views of Pennyroyal Valley, straight through the large windows. Surrounded by tall eucalyptus trees and bird song - it was such a serene welcome. This modern-day treehouse has so many thoughtful extras.
The environmentally conscious cabin is very well equipped. It has many luxe, extra touches that you can tell so much care and thought has gone into it. The host offers organic, local produce for breakfast, tea and coffee options, calming essential oils, and port to sip by the wood fire.
Our first morning, we woke to the birds and watched the sunrise over the mountain before making breakfast outside with local eggs, butter and sourdough. After breaky we headed out to explore Erskine Falls, a 30 minute drive through beautiful forest. The falls lush green fern gullies and huge 30 meter drop make for such an impressive sight! We spent a bit of time here exploring the nooks and crannies of the forest.
After enjoying the falls, we continued our adventure to explore Lorne's main town. Grabbing a coffee, we strolled along the beach to Lorne pier, spending an hour walking through the sand and water, soaking in the sights of the blue water and surfers riding the waves. As hunger kicked in, we made our way to Pit Stop Burgers for crunchy hot chips and delicious fried chicken burgers, all while watching the busy streets of Lorne.
After a huge day out of sight seeing, an adventure the double spa was the perfect way to unwind after big day of exploring. Essential oils and lots of candles made for a beautiful and tranquil soak with expansive mountain views through the windows. As the sun started to set, and the stars came out, we popped together a cheese board and chilled on the deck. We watched the first stars appear as the frogs sung in the distance. Feeling the night air turned a bit chilly, we lit the wood fire and cozied up with a glass of red.
Waking once more to the first light, we sipped coffee in bed while watching the birds wake through the big windows out into the forest who later joined us for breakfast! The friendly king parrots shared our organic sourdough on the balcony, which was a beautiful surprise and farewell.
I couldn't recommend this stay enough and would go back in a heartbeat, its the perfect secluded place with close distance to an exciting town nearby adventures.
