A Coastal Escape to South Beach

The sun cast a golden hue over the beach as we wound our way down the coastal road towards South Beach, Kiama. With each curve of the highway, the ocean came into view, its vastness stretching out to meet the sky.

We turned into a quaint street, with the sea salt in the air, and the soothing sounds of crashing waves in the distance. There it was our home for the next few days - the beautiful Southbeach. As we stepped out of the car, the salty breeze greeted us, carrying the soothing sounds of crashing waves. Its weathered timber and brick exterior blended seamlessly with the other suburban holiday homes, amongst a seaside landscape backdrop. Yes inside we were in awe. The house itself seemed vast in size, yet its cozy nooks and panoramic views of the endless sea had us mesmerised.

Despite the weather progressing to constant torrential rain and storms during our stay, we found ourselves having cheese and wine over our books in the evening, and morning baths to start the day. Even eventually being granted a magical sunrise on our final morning. Our time here at Southbeach was a memorable one.

Southbeach had worked its magic on us, leaving us feeling refreshed, rejuvenated, and with a newfound appreciation for the beauty of the ocean so close to us. We left, vowing to return again someday for another coastal escape.

A short drive from our coastal escape at South Beach, Berry welcomed us with its quaint streets lined with historic buildings, boutique shops, and inviting cafes. We couldn't resist stopping at the Berry Donut Van for a taste of their famous donuts. A tradition, if you will. As well as wandering through the array of shops, browsing unique pottery, handmade crafts, and gourmet treats that Berry is renowned for.

A brief stroll down the sandy path led us to Jones Beach. With the beach seemingly all to ourselves, we found solace in the long stretches of quiet shoreline, where the only sounds were the gentle waves. As the sun rised above the horizon on our last morning, we were treated to breathtaking sunrise that painted the sky in hues of gold. A perfect way to spend a morning at South Beach.

Staying so close to the iconic Kiama Blowhole, we knew we had to visit it. Venturing along the rugged coastline, we followed the map on our phones till we found to what we were looking for. When we arrived, we were greeted by the sight of seawater shooting high into the air, propelled by the force of the waves crashing against the rocky shore. Standing at the edge of the viewing platform, we watched on as the blowhole performed its constant dance, sending plumes of spray into the air with each mighty surge. Whether you're a local, or a tourist, i'd recommend this sight for anyone visiting within the region.
