Soaring high at Ruru Cabin

Nestled at the base of the magnificent Taranaki Maunga, this tranquil location offers a luxurious new cabin for your stay. Situated 15 minutes away from the main town, you have easy access to some of Taranaki's best adventures. The cabin is well-equipped with many amenities and is kept very clean.

Unfortunately, the weather wasn't in our favor during our visit, which prevented us from fully enjoying the stunning balcony. However, the outdoor bath, with its serene views, was a definite highlight for me. We bathed in the rain and watched the rainbows form underneath the rangers. The cabin is just a 700m walk from the beginning of the Pouakai walking track. I recommend bringing all the food you'll need so you can fully relax and enjoy the tranquility of this place.

Despite not being the only cottage on the property, this cabin offers a high level of privacy.

Standing at a height of 156 meters, this ‘rock’ is a prominent feature in the New Plymouth scenery. It is the remains of a prehistoric volcanic crater that was active around 1.75 million years ago. Paritutu Rock is a fun but steep little climb, it gives great views of New Plymouth city and coast line.

Explore one of the best beaches and Taranaki's coastlines by running down the sand dunes at Back beach. Great Surf, walking tracks, wildlife, plenty to see and enjoy.

Not only is this one of the best views to watch the sunset in Taranaki, with plenty of locations to park up with some fish and chips or picnic, you will also witness a massive flock of starlings murmuration. Photos don't do it justice, the show they put on is truly one not to miss.
