Winter Retreat at Hide & Seek

We rallied a crew of living legends for our stay at the Hide & Seek River House. We arrived just in time to load up in the complimentary “car” and head to the bottom of the property to watch the sunset across the water.

We moseyed back to the splendid River House and picked our bedrooms. There was an extensive array to choose from each with a grand bathtub. We chose some music to listen to, while I picked up my FUNcles Scott’s jaw from the floor as he walked around in complete awe of this livin’ grand design daydream!

The two-story delight oozed luxury, featuring two living spaces with wood fires, as well as an upstairs AND downstairs kitchen. There was plenty of room to cook up a storm and create beautiful memories. Even in the middle of winter, we were soon super toasty warm - to the point we had to crack a window!

We all slept in that morning. My friend Caz and I sipped our cuppa tea in bed listening to the rain on the roof. We opened the doors to the smell of rain on the native trees surrounding us. We lay in silence for a good while with a strong sense of calmness in our hearts.

Will and Becca made breakfast for the whole troop, and we came together outside on the deck to feast overlooking the river. I love the way food gathers humans together. We then enjoyed an afternoon of wine tours in the region, starting at Mitchelton Wines. We sipped, and giggled, and sipped some more!

We arrived back at the house and lit the outdoor fire by the river. This became a home base as everyone came and went, exploring the property and its endless array of activities. Some smashed balls on the tennis court while others smashed cheese and biscuits by the fire. Caz and I canoed down the river trying to befriend the two baby goats found on the other side. It was winter, although the sun shined all day just like we did.

As the sun set we sat around the outdoor fire roasting marshmallows and sipping on our cuppas. We shared our life stories while laughing our faces off under the stars. They were shining so bright that night - my FUNcles that is, and the stars!

We dove right into the next day with a cold river plunge and by heck was it fresh! Next level fresh I tell ya friends! The retreat had endless activities, we really didn’t need to leave. Some of us spent the morning fishing, others went for a bush walk finding cool rocks and each other. Abstar and Floss read their books by the indoor fire, and Caz and I had a cheeky lunchtime bath with bubbles up to our ears as we created memories... and brainstormed ten new businesses we hope to open someday!

Side note, the only thing that was actually open that day was the delicious bottle of wine from the hosts and our mouths! Such a good time. The bath was overflowing just like our ideas! #memorymakers

We all came together by the end of the day around the dinner table with roast vegetables and some pork on our forks cos the only thing my FUNcles caught that day was a bucket load of smiles - as did we all.
We cruised into the morning as some of us cruised on home. We all left in due time with full hearts, and a pocket full of memories made at the Hide and Seek River House.

We had some manual drivers amongst us, so we jumped right in to this Morris Minor 1000 vintage car to the island on the property to watch the sunset!
