Log Cabin Lovin
Adventure in Termeil, South Coast, NSW, AU
With the end of winter just around the corner, we decided to sneak in one more cosy escape with the wolfpack. The Log Cabin @ Bawley Ridge Farm was the perfect spot.
Sitting on 8 acres, and just 10min from the beach, this cabin wants for nothing. It just oozes charm & character with its log exterior, yet is surprisingly spacious & luxe inside. There was a welcome basket waiting for us with homemade bread still warm from the oven, butter, fresh eggs from the farm, honey, a bottle of wine, and some homegrown lemons - just a few of my favourite things! We sliced some bread up immediately and smothered it with butter.
Post snack, we took a little wander around with the dogs to say hello to all of the farm animals. There were alpacas, goats you can hand feed, chickens, ducks, geese, and some beautiful peacocks. The wind was rather wild, so we decided to bunker in for a cosy evening and lit fire that had been preset for us. I loved exploring the cabin, enjoying the books, artwork, and the quiet nod to Scotland which made both of us feel right at home. We had brought some grass-fed scotch fillets for dinner, which simply HAD to be turned into steak sandwiches using the fresh bread. Locky barbecued the steaks to perfection, and I caramelised some onion - which we coupled with my homemade chimichurri, chipotle mayo, and pickles. Yes, they were as good as you can imagine.
The next morning, I made some coffee, and sat on the back deck taking in the morning sun. The goats bleated happily whilst an array of birds flew amongst the surrounding gum trees. I took a deep breath, closed my eyes, and let all the goodness soak in. The culinary delights continued this morning, for breakfast I made us some vanilla pancakes with grilled banana and fresh berries. After brekkie, we decided to head off for a 4WD adventure to Clyde River. There were endless dirt roads to explore and lots of tree debris obstacles to manoeuvre around after the wind, it felt like a real adventure. Clyde River was beautiful with loads of swimming spots, swing ropes, and a river crossing in the car which was a fabulous bush carwash... until hitting the dirt roads again!
Back at the cabin, we settled in for the arvo with a bubble bath, fire pit cranked, and some tunes. We spent hours like this, watching the landscape & colours change as the sun went down. What is it about an outdoor bath and a fire that's just so damn good? I'll never get over it.
Our final morning was cruisy and filled with more winter sunshine. We said farewell to all of our furry friends, gathered some lemons & limes from the orchard, and headed into Bawley Point for breakfast. We stopped in at Luci's which was all good vibes, some tasty toasties, and freshly squeezed juice. We had a final leg stretch at the stunning Gannet Beach before hitting the road home. This beach was one of the most inviting coves I've seen! The colour of the water was an all-time blue, and we had it all to ourselves.
I will hold this log cabin close to my heart always, and cannot wait to come back again soon!...
