Weekend at The Lakehouse Bundanoon
Adventure in Bundanoon, Country NSW, NSW, AU
Our stay at The Lakehouse in Bundanoon was the perfect escape. Nestled in the heart of the Southern Highlands, this European-inspired provincial farmhouse sits on 20 beautiful acres, surrounded by gardens of mature fruit trees. The private lake, tennis court, pizza oven, and outdoor fire pit made it ideal for spending quality time together. Over the two days, we made pizzas, played tennis, enjoyed long chats by the fire, and found peaceful moments doing yoga and relaxing in the hammock while taking in the scenery.
Our adventures led us to breathtaking views of the Grand Canyon lookout, a refreshing dip at Fairy Bower Falls, and spotting a lyrebird along the way. The town of Bundanoon was a treat, with cozy cafes and delicious dining—Little Jack's Style Thai and Bottega B Ristorante were definite highlights. It was the perfect blend of relaxation, adventure, and good company!

Playing tennis at The Lakehouse is such a fun, laid-back experience. The court is surrounded by beautiful trees, making every rally feel even more enjoyable. Whether you're just hitting for fun or getting competitive, the peaceful vibe of the property makes it special. After a good game, you can chill out and take in the amazing scenery all around—it’s the perfect mix of activity and relaxation.
We grabbed lunch from Deli Licious Bundanoon and took a short, easy drive along Bundanoon Loop Rd, just a few minutes from town. Finding the perfect spot at Grand Canyon Lookout, we enjoyed our meal while taking in the wide, open view of the mountain ridges. The fresh air, peaceful surroundings, and breathtaking scenery made it an unforgettable, relaxing moment.
We parked at the Fairy Bower walking track car park for the quickest route down to the falls. The trail is steep in parts, with plenty of steps, but it’s worth the effort. Along the way, we passed through lush vegetation, with ferns, flowering shrubs, and wattle adding bursts of colour. The bird life was incredible—we even spotted a lyrebird near the base of the falls! The highlight was definitely the waterfall itself, where you can cool off with a refreshing ice-cold shower under the cascading water, so be sure to bring your swimmers!
