Enchantment Tucked Away By The Lake

After a pleasant spring countryside drive towards Daylesford, we arrived at the secluded driveway that led to The Falls. Following the clear instructions sent by our host, we were led down towards our hidden escape - an enchanting home covered by a garden of blossoming flowers overlooking Lake Werona.

This home has been designed with the clear intent of showcasing the Lakeview, which can be appreciated throughout the whole home. The large windows and sliding doors all open up to reveal the beauty that’s outside. We’d spend our mornings in bed staring at the view. During the day we found we spent most of our time outside on the property. Lake Werona is so peaceful, you just want to get as close to it as possible to soak it up. We tried our luck giving the fishing rod a good flick, but it wasn’t our day.

There’s a little hidden waterfall just a few minutes walk from the house, which was a fun little adventure – but you need to be careful not to get too close to the edge. The garden is beautiful when in full bloom, we enjoyed just sitting out on the patio playing jenga with a glass of rose in hand, waiting for the sunset to fall upon the lake - it was bliss.

We enjoyed heading into town which was only 15 minutes away, and the Daylesford Sunday market is a little gem! The organic potato rosti’s were incredible!

Our evenings were spent in the hot tub, and let me tell you this was an absolute perfect way to end our nights, feeling calm & rejuvenated. We really enjoyed our little escape, The Falls truly does deliver.

The Daylesford sunday market is a great little stop, filled with many handmade crafts, food & produce, antiques and much more all right by the old trainstation.

Located only a few minutes down the road, Swiss Mountain Hotel is on of those more elegant classic country pubs that you walk out of thinking, damn that was really good. With a great selection of local beers on tap - you can't go wrong. We couldn't look past grabbing a parma, and boy that didn't disappoint! I was surprised to see the variety of different meals they had to offer, which all sounded amazing.

Lake Werona is literally a few steps away from the porch of the property, and is a beautiful and calm place to be. We tried our luck at some fishing, and even though we didn't have any luck it was a great excuse to enjoy the serenity.

This little waterfall was honestly a bit of a surprise. Looking at the property, you think to yourself, how can there be a waterfall nearby? The instructions left by the host say its only a 5 minute walk away - and they're right!

If you walk down the porch, and turn right (you need to go through a couple of gates), you'll find yourself at a little cliff face that almost comes out of nowhere to the hidden waterfall.

While there wasn't a massive amount of flow when we went (apparently late spring is the best time to see the waterfall), it was definitely worth the little trek to see.

You need to be careful getting close to the edge though as there is a decent drop, but you can enjoy the view safely a few meters back.

When we first drove past Cliffy's, we saw a big line out the door and thought, what is this place? So when thought we'd go back the next day and see what the hype was all about... and wow - it's absolutely worth the hype! Cliffy's has some of the best brunch on offer, with dishes that are completely unique and bursting with flavour. We ordered the Turkish Eggs & the Chilli Eggs, and they were both so good it was all I could think about for the rest of the day. Definitely check this cafe out!!
