A Taste of Med in Mt Martha

The Love Shack in Mt Martha was so cosy and perfect for a romantic getaway only a short drive out of Melbourne. After a long week we were looking forward to a very chilled seaside escape and that’s exactly what we got!

Heading straight up after work we got there just in time to be greeted by our lovely host Josey, who walked us through the stunning terrace gardens that make you feel like you’re somewhere in the Mediterranean.
On our first night we settled in and cranked the heater and electric blankets. No time was wasted indulging in the hamper and playing cards around the table.

The next day we woke up to the beautiful surrounds that looked even nicer in the morning light. The valley in front leading to the sea was a feast for the eyes. It was an ideal spot to read a book to the soundtrack of some local birds and light sea breeze. We set off to explore the best the Peninsula had to offer. We took a nice easy drive through Red Hill to St. Andrews Beach, stopping for a vegan breaky at scandi-inspired café Nordie and the farmers market. After a quick dip at St Andrews Beach and a few beers (and some amazing pub food) at The Brewery we cruised back home along Safety Beach.

The highlight was a BBQ on the balcony for sunset - simply stunning! The Love Shack was a weekend escape done well.

A vibey brewery with a huge beer garden that was the perfect pit stop for some afternoon refreshments. We shared the wings and chips (that were next-level good), all washed down with a St Andrew's Beach Brewery lager and cider....

Nestled among the sand dunes we found this stretch of beach that runs from Cape Schank to Portsea. A great spot for a refreshing dip and walk along the shore....

On the way home we tackled Arthur's Seat Summit walk and took some time to enjoy sprawling views of the Mornington Peninsula. We also dropped by the Enchanted Garden and felt like big kids walking on the treetops and tackling the mazes....

The balcony at The Love Shack is fully equipped with a Weber and seating to take full advantage of the sea views from its location on the hill. It was a picture perfect spot to have dinner and a few reds while we watched the sky turn from a golden yellow to night blue. The stars were pretty epic too! Definitely the highlight of our stay....
