Petite Stay with some Diary Queens by the Sea

You know you’ve arrived at a working farm when you see a sign at the entrance that says, "Please shut the gate." It instantly got me excited because I love animals! I was curious about what awaited me.

Just five minutes from the coastal town of Apollo Bay, I found myself at a tiny home with the lushest lawn I’d seen in ages. And let’s not forget the stunning water view!

As the dairy cows made their way to the paddock for the afternoon, I was just arriving. The inside of the tiny abode had a cozy cottage feel, complete with everything you’d hope to find in a tiny home: a large bed, an ensuite bathroom, and an open-plan kitchen overlooking the water and the dairy queens.

I stepped out onto the deck with a cup of tea, and a kitty came over to say hi. I’d only been there for 20 minutes and was already making friends! I spotted an outdoor tub and filled it with steaming hot water and bubbles. No worries about overflow here! I filled it to the brim while the kitty watched me from the deck—such a little creeper! Ha!

I settled into the bath, waiting for the sunset to peek through the scattered clouds. She was feeling shy that evening, so no sunset for me, but I ended up with ten wrinkled fingers and toes. I felt utterly relaxed before bed and slept peacefully that night.

The next day, the sun was shining, and so was I! I explored all the beach spots around Apollo Bay, even discovering a few that were completely people-free! I hiked up to a lookout, did a few star jumps at the top, and took a refreshing dip in the ocean that afternoon. Yep, it was super fresh, giving me a buzz that lasted into the night.

My friendly host, Carolyn, gave me a farm tour where I got to feed and shower love on the animals. It was such a treat, especially since I adore animals. I left feeling grateful for my tiny stay that kept me safe and warm, with a rejuvenated heart. There really is something special about country air, isn’t there? It’s so good for the soul.

That Sunday morning, I started my drive along the Great Ocean Road, stopping at every ice cream shop I could find! It turned into a delightful ice cream tour adventure. With the ice cream shops open, my sunroof open, and my heart open, it was absolute bliss!

Endless stretch of beautiful beaches along the Great Ocean Road/Apollo Bay. Don't just commit to the beach areas in town. There's soooo many spots and I even found some people free! Great little estuary area too at Skenes Creek Beach.

Carolyn gave me a tour of their family run farm which has diary cows, carves, horses and their cat! I got to meet them all and feed some horses! Carolyn was so kind, open and knowledgeable about their way of living. So nice.
