Jacuzzi Times & Crackin' Sunsets
Adventure in Rosebrook, Hunter Valley, NSW, AU
Rolled into the charming township of Morpeth and wandered the streets, weaving through the alleyways leading to who knows where. I stumbled upon a deli where I gathered some cheesy goodness with crackers to take back to my cabin.
Two kilometers into the property of Hunter River Retreat, I found my cozy wood cabin nestled right at the back. Along the way, I passed some friendly residents: a donkey, a few alpacas, chickens, and some fluffy cows!
I noticed a sign pointing to a ‘picnic area’ up a hill, and that, my friends, was something I simply couldn’t miss! I grabbed a picnic hamper and a bottle of wine from my cabin fridge and drove to the top of the hill. And oh my, what a view it was! The sunset truly put on a show for me that evening. I got lost in my own world.
Snuggled up in bed, I ended up sleeping in, which set the tone for my morning: slow and easy! I enjoyed some yoga, coffee, and a bit of my current read until after lunch.
I walked down to feed the locals and shared my experience about the sunset from the night before. There wasn’t much feedback, but that’s because they all had their mouths full—such good listeners! I collected a couple of eggs for my next breakfast and thanked the chickens for their creations.
The day flew by faster than Peter Pan, and before I knew it, I was making myself a mix-and-pick cheese board from the Morpeth Deli, enjoying the sunset once again from the jacuzzi. It’s magical moments like this that make me feel so grateful for the life I live—completely delightful. And the cheese? Just as wonderful!
The next morning, I devoured my eggs and did my daily yoga practice just outside on the deck. I left feeling thankful for such a beautiful experience at the wooden cabin.
I hope to return in the near future, and I’ll be sure to pack extra cheese along with a carload of friends to share in the experience!

Things We Did
- Farm
- Sunset
- Town
You can help feed the animals located on the property. They roam free along day long! I collected the chicken eggs and had them for brekky the next morning. Me and the donk are the best of buds now!
I enjoyed a snack board at sunset while not leaving the hot tub! Absolute bliss!
Right up the top of the hill on the property is the BEST place to view the sunset! There's picnic baskets and blankets that can be found in "The Hub" on the property and I drove all the way to the top to set up a little picnic! Was absolutely stunning.
I wandered the township of Morpeth and created myself a little cheese platter from the deli store to take back to my stay. Op shops, ice cream stores and little alley ways leading to other hidden gems!
