Spring Creek Love Shack

Tucked away on 150 acres in Bellbrae, is the Spring Creek Love Shack. With 40 horses roaming around, and the coast just a stone's throw away, it's the perfect mix of country and seaside adventure. The shack, built by the owners from mud brick and recycled timber, felt cozy and inviting, boasting a king bed with lovely linen. The spacious spa bath that promised pure relaxation.

We spent our first afternoon in Anglesea, just 15 minutes away, having lunch at the Love House (you can't stay in the Love Shack without trying out the Love House, right?), followed by a walk and swim. We then settled back in at the shack for a glorious afternoon watching the horses in the paddock, soaking in the spa bath, and enjoying the full moon by the fire pit.

Waking up the next morning, it was such a treat to sit in the sunshine and watch the horses be moved from the top paddocks, right past the shack, to the stables. We had booked in for a ride that morning, so we donned our jeans, boots and walked up to the main house to saddle up for our ride. The horses were so beautiful and we took off through the seemingly endless bush tracks, that melded from the Spring Creek property into the Anglesea Herath National Park. I have a not-so-secret desire to be a full-time cowgirl, so was in pure heaven.

After our ride, we went to the Bowside Café for lunch and wandered through the adjoining garden & arts centre. Then, just down the road from there we checked out the Bellbrae Estate Winery and sampled several wines and some scrumptious brownies.

As night fell, we sat around the fire pit again, flames crackling and laughter filling the air. We roasted marshmallows, shared stories, and enjoyed the starry sky above. It was the perfect way to unwind after an action-packed day.

As we packed to leave the Love Shack, our hearts were full. Horse riding, cozy fires, and tasty adventures made it an unforgettable getaway. We left feeling rejuvenated, knowing we’d be back for more fun in this slice of paradise!

The Love Shack is part of a 150 acre property called Spring Creek, that's been run by the same family since the 80's. There are over 40 horses and ponies, with daily trail rides happening. The rides go through bush tracks around the property, and through the bordering national parks. You can even book a pub ride, with lunch stop and cold frothy one at the halfway point. I highly recommend booking a ride as part of your stay at the shack, it was a highlight for us!

This property is a twitchers paradise, with a vast array of birds to watch, and parrots tame enough to hand feed. Not to mention the resident dogs, horses, and ponies!

Absolutely worth a stop in, wines are scrumptious and the property is stunning. We had a wine sample board & brownie that was to die for. Great pizzas being rolled out as well.

Definitely worth a stop in for a fresh juice, tasty dish, squizz at some local arts and crafts, and admire of some beautiful plants. The Bowside Cafe sites within Bellbrae Art & Garden - it's the cutest little hub that we could have spent all day in
