Rustic Retreat at the Shearers Quarters
Adventure in Lauriston, Macedon Ranges, VIC, AU
Set on a working alpaca farm, Shepherds Hill Shearers Quarters is a beautifully renovated retreat brimming with rustic charm. From the moment we arrived, we felt completely at home.
The Quarters are private, peaceful, and exceptionally comfortable—complete with luxurious alpaca bedding. One of our favourite parts was being able to visit the alpacas grazing just outside the back door!
Inside, we enjoyed a fully equipped kitchen, a modern bathroom with a walk-in shower, a cosy living area with a wood-burning heater, and a charming open mezzanine for sleeping. We made the most of the kitchen, sipped wine on the patio, spent time with the alpacas, and ended each evening unwinding by the fire.
The location is also ideal—just a short drive from the scenic towns of Trentham, Kyneton, and Daylesford. Highlights of our stay included exploring the Kyneton Botanic Gardens, visiting the spectacular Trentham Falls, and enjoying wood-fired pizza at the Cosmopolitan Hotel.
Our hosts, Liz and Keith, were wonderfully warm and welcoming. We especially appreciated the thoughtful breakfast provisions, including fresh eggs and bread.
The Shearers Quarters is a truly unique and charming countryside escape, made even more special by the presence of the alpacas. A peaceful, memorable stay we can’t recommend highly enough.
