Threads of the Farm Cottage
Adventure in Warncoort, Great Ocean Road, VIC, AU
I didn’t realise how much I needed quiet until I arrived. You ever felt like that?
Sheep shuffle lazily in the paddocks just beyond the cottage and I instantly followed suit. slow down too. Inside, timber, soft light, and home grown flowers make it feel like someone thought of every little detail just for me.
The outdoor bath becomes my ritual. Hot water steams into the cool air, loosening muscles I didn’t know were tense. I stay longer than I plan, listening to birds settle and the farm ease into evening. It’s not about the view for me, it’s about finally feeling safe to be letting go.
I wandered the wool shop on the farm, yarns of wool spun from the very sheep grazing nearby. My fingers lingered over the colourful display imagining the journey from paddock to final product. Later, I drove to Lake Colac one of the nearby towns. The sandy edge and small gardens looked made for summer and a coffee van offered just enough warmth on this mild day. I didn’t swim but I imagined coming back when it’s hotter. Got lost in a summer daze right there and then.
Birregurra township stole a slow afternoon as well as my heart. I wandered the streets admiring the old buildings, grabbed a slice or two of pizza at the gluten-free bakery and peeked into a few other shops, feeling the town’s rhythm sink into me.
Back at the cottage, I claimed the queen bed each night for myself because well, a queen needs her space. Girl was cosy and satisfied. Morning light fills the modern bathroom and the house felt calm, inviting, and simply easy which is more than I can say about some of my exes.
I arrive carrying everything..
I now leave stretched out, lighter with a full heart and spoiled by all the countryside goodness.

Things We Did
- Farm
- Lake
- Town
Located on the property is a wool shop which yep, you guessed it! - a shop with wool beginning with the sheep on the farm to the very end of creating bundles of wool to then create knits, crafts and all kinds of lovely things!
Lake Colac. Great spot with a sand edge right at the water! Great swimming spot although a bit to cold for me during my visit. Coffee van nearby as well as the gardens! Nice hang spot.
What a cutie Birregurra town was! Enjoyed a little wander around here and the gluten free bakery was delish along side with a very crafted froffy coffee!
