Past the white picket fence and through the garden gate, we discovered A Thousand Pines - a beautifully restored late-1800s miner’s cottage inspired by Ballarat’s Gold Rush era.

The moment we stepped inside, it was clear how much care had gone into the accommodation. Artworks, antiques and thoughtful details fill every corner, creating a warm sense of history. The cottage felt cosy, charming and full of character. Some of our favourite moments included playing old-school board games, cosying up with books about Victoria’s past in the library nook, soaking in the clawfoot bathtub, and sipping our morning coffees out in the gorgeous garden.

The cottage is just a short drive from Ballarat’s town centre, where we stopped by Aunty Jack’s Brewery - an eclectic spot serving delicious food and brews. We shared a beer tasting paddle and loved the atmosphere. We also wandered through the Ballarat Botanical Gardens and around Lake Wendouree, enjoying the sunshine and taking in the scenery.

A Thousand Pines is the perfect blend of old-world charm and modern comfort, with everything you need for a relaxing getaway. It’s a truly memorable stay you won’t soon forget.
