Betty Boopin in Byron
Adventure in Myocum, North Coast, NSW, AU
Driving down the pine-tree-lined driveway toward Betty Boop, I felt my body instantly relax as I soaked in the surrounding nature, while a quiet buzz of excitement built knowing I was about to explore somewhere new. Betty didn’t disappoint. This space feels like a step back in time, brimming with character and vintage charm. The van itself is incredibly cosy and comfortable, the perfect little nook for sleeping.
The open-air kitchen, living and dining area was an absolute treat, looking through palms, across rolling lawns and down to a sparkling, duck-filled dam. The bathroom was spacious and luxe, with stunning skylights that frame the trees and sky above. My favourite part though, of-course, was the deep bathtub, looking out at the view and fire pit.
Best of all, Betty Boop is pet-friendly, and my boy Obi-Wan was in absolute heaven tearing around the property and happily chewing his way through endless pinecones. The days that followed were blissful - slow mornings at Belongil Beach, stopping in at Bay Lato for pancakes and ice cream, paddle boarding on the Bruns River, then evenings spent soaking in the tub and sitting by the fire pit.
I can’t recommend this little step back in time enough. So close to Byron and all the action, yet tucked away as a private, peaceful oasis.

Things We Did
- Standup Paddle
- Ice-creamery
- Beach
High tide paddle boarding on the Bruns River is just magic. My fave paddle route is to launch from the Bruns Bowls Club and paddle south for an hour. There's a spot you can dock your board and walk through the sandy fire trail to a deserted beach on the other side. We watched the storm roll in, it was magic.
Seriously scrumptious pancakes, ice cream, and smoothies, an absolute must stop if you're driving past The Farm. Don't judge me, but I went back every day to try something new.
Such a stunning beach, with a long dog friendly stretch to walk along, easy swimming, and views across the bay to the lighthouse.
