Drifting Mountain Rivers
Adventure in Kevington, High Country, VIC, AU
Just footsteps from our stone cottage stay I found the riverbanks of the beautiful Goulburn, where one could float their kayak, jump in a tube to complete the 'Tunnel Bend Drift' or throw a line in to catch a fish or three for lunch or dinner. We were soon to do all these things - but for now I was content to perch myself on the swing beneath the branches of the most incredible elm tree and while the morning away by the river as the most beautiful sunlight filters through.
My Border Collie's at my feet, content as can be to have joined us on another adventure, and I'm soon joined by the fam to discuss the day's adventures. Before cooking up brunch in the cottage's stylish newly-renovated kitchen I decided to hit the sauna. There was something so grounding about its cedar walls built into the side of the stone building and surrounded by wisteria vines, ferns and native gums. Here time seems to move slowly and I felt no reason for us to leave the property in search of anywhere else to be.
Returning to Riverstone for our second stay is a welcome breath of mountain air, with a remembering of yesteryear and the history of this special abode tucked into the bushland nearby 'Jammo'. Recently refreshed to bring a touch of luxury to this classic country stay we'd found ourselves the ideal retreat for the weekend, completed only by a visit to the Kevi pub and a second lap of the oh-so-relaxing Tunnel Bend Drift!

Things We Did
- Caving
- Experience
- Swim
- Fish
This historic river diversion tunnel offers a rocky caving experience that's easily accessible yet so fun to explore, emerging at the banks of the Goulburn River.
Whether you've just spent the day tubing the Tunnel Bend Drift on the Goulburn or hitting the slopes at Mount Buller, you'll be sure to ease those tired muscles at Riverstone's cedar sauna.
This area of Kevington just about becomes an island when the bend of the Goulburn River envelopes the property from both sides. Jump in the Goulburn out the back of the house and spend an hour or so drifting around the river on your tube.
Just footsteps from the rear of the property you have the beautiful Goulburn river to dip your toes in, throw a line in and catch lunch or dinner!
