Hidden Glamping Escape
Adventure in Fingal, Mornington Peninsula, VIC, AU
We came in curious. We left completely blown away. Pulling up to Ukiyo Nature Retreat felt like entering a forest reserve — quiet, green and instantly peaceful. But nothing prepared us for the moment we saw Poppy, our beautifully named glamping tent. The decoration was simply stunning — a cosy lounge, plush bed dressed with flowers, bedside tables and thoughtful details in every corner. We stood there genuinely astonished. This was not what we expected.
Despite wet and cold weather throughout our stay, we slept like logs both nights — warm, snug and completely undisturbed inside the tent. Mornings were a different kind of magic: waking up to birds calling through the trees and the soft sounds of the bushland all around. We swayed in the hammock, breathed in the fresh air and simply let the morning come to us.
Evenings were spent lighting the coonara fireplace, listening to birds settle into the trees as the sky darkened, and firing up the BBQ for dinner together. The shared lounge area was a beautiful bonus — an indoor fireplace, kitchen facilities, a dining table and board games that made cold rainy evenings feel genuinely cosy and intimate.
Even the little pathways connecting the tent, lounge, BBQ and facilities were charming — beautifully marked with directional signs that made the whole property feel thoughtfully designed from every corner.
We didn't want to leave. Of all the glamping experiences we've had together, Poppy tent at Ukiyo set a new standard entirely. For couples looking for something truly beautiful in nature — this is it.
