Rillivan

Some places are made for switching off. Rillivan felt like it was made for bringing people together.

From mornings exploring country cafés and local markets to long lunches at nearby wineries, the region gave us plenty of reasons to slow down. Back at the property, the days naturally unfolded between friendly games of basketball and tennis, shared meals, and evenings gathered around the riverside fireplace overlooking the Goulburn River. It was the kind of weekend where nobody was in a hurry, and that felt pretty special.

Winter only added to the atmosphere. Crisp mornings, roaring fires, and quiet moments by the river made the whole experience feel even more memorable. Whether you're planning a family reunion, celebrating with friends, or simply looking for an escape where everyone can reconnect, Rillivan is one of those rare places that makes spending time together feel effortless.

A great little café tucked beside the local market, serving excellent coffee and a delicious brunch. Baracca Lane has that welcoming country-town atmosphere that makes you want to linger a little longer. Definitely worth the stop if you're exploring Seymour.

No road trip through the Goulburn Valley feels complete without a stop at Gaffney's Pie Kitchen. Their pies have built quite a reputation over the years, and after one bite, it's easy to see why. Fresh, hearty, and packed with flavour.

We stopped at Cavalry Coffee for a quick caffeine fix and ended up staying longer than planned. Great coffee, welcoming locals, and the kind of laid-back country atmosphere that reminds you why regional Victoria is always worth exploring. Simple stops like these often become some of the best memories from the trip. ☕

If your trip lines up with the second Sunday of the month, don't miss the Avenel Market. It's one of those classic country markets where you'll find local produce, handmade goods, great coffee, and friendly faces everywhere you look. We wandered through the stalls with no real plan, picking up a few treats and enjoying the slower pace that makes regional Victoria so special.

It's hard to beat an afternoon by the Goulburn River. Rillivan's riverside gazebo, complete with an outdoor fireplace and dining area, became our favourite place to gather after a day of exploring. Good food, great company, and the sound of the river flowing by—sometimes the best part of an escape is simply slowing down enough to enjoy moments like these.

The basketball and tennis courts quickly became the heart of our stay. Friendly competitions, plenty of laughs, and a reminder that sometimes the best part of an escape is simply spending quality time together. Whether you're travelling with family or a big group of friends, Rillivan has plenty of space to play, unwind, and make memories beyond the house itself.

Every great road trip deserves a long lunch, and Fowles Wine delivered exactly that. Great food, beautiful wines, and sweeping vineyard views created the perfect excuse to slow down and enjoy the moment. It's the kind of place that reminds you the journey is just as rewarding as the destination.
