A Farm Stay Worth Slowing Down For

Pulling into the property after a short drive past Geelong , we weren't too sure what to expect. The stay itself is situated on a farm, nestled away amongst trees of rosemary and other plants that create a little private paradise.

Mr Pickles felt right at home here, with a lot to explore and look at – and so did we!

We were greeted with a lovely loaf of local sourdough bread and wine, which is honestly enough to win me over.

And to win Mr pickles over was a little hamper ready to go which had a blanket, treats, toys and even a pet spray! He was a happy chap and felt the love.

The space was a perfect balance of cozy yet spacious – everything we were hoping for on our little getaway. Inside we had everything we needed, a nice comfy recliner, fireplace, good sized kitchen with coffee amenities (as well as all the other necessities), and a massive bed shielded by a sheer curtain to separate the rooms and create some privacy.

While the kitchen doesn’t have a stove, you are supplied with a plug in electric stove top and mini electric oven, so you are pretty sorted there. We made use of the Weber for our home cooked dinner – any excuse to get a barbie on!

There’s something beautiful and serene about these little farm stays – and you notice it the most in the mornings. Waking up and walking outside really gives you a feeling that’s hard to describe – the freshness of the air, the quiet pity pater of the farm animals – it's refreshing. One of the highlights of our stay was feeding the alpacas and collecting fresh chicken eggs!

We fell in love with the local cafe and bakery nearby – Ket baker – which is where the loaf of bread came from. This was a highlight spot for us, with insane pastries (all made on site), great coffee, and farm animals including a peacock roaming around. We went here every day to try different pastries they are honestly so good!

We also found an incredible Italian restaurant nearby called Mona Cicchetti Bar. It feels like it’s in the middle of nowhere, but it’s only 5 minutes away and is definitely well known as they were busy and we went on a Wednesday night! Also – dog friendly, so Mr Pickles was just happy to be a part of our date night.

The Suite Escape is perfectly located in the center of the tip of the Bellarine Peninsula – giving you close and convenient access to Ocean Grove, Barwon Heads, Drysdale, and even close access to Port Arlington – making it a perfect spot if you are wanting to spend some time in town. Also shops and amenities are really close by, only a few minute drive which makes it convenient to stock up on any supplies you need. We took the opportunity to head into Barwon Heads for lunch, and found an awesome spot called Barrys. Once again, they were dog friendly so that immediately wins me over – but damn, these we some great burgers... and I’ve had a lot of burgers in my time.

Overall we had a super relaxing stay and really enjoyed our time at The Suite Escape. It was a wholesome family getaway and everything we needed!

Macho and Bobo are the resident Alpacas, and they are super friendly especially if you have food for them! We had so much fun getting outside and connecting with these beautiful animals, there's something about feeding alpacas that puts a massive smile on your face. We also collected some fresh eggs from the local chooks, this was actually a first for me! And yes, they were delicious.

This Italian restaurant is a little hidden out of town, but well worth the drive (it's really close to Ocean Grove and Wallington). It is one of those hidden gems that you need to seek out, and boy is it worth it! The food and drinks were amazing, definitely not what we expected to find out this way! And being dog friendly, our hearts were won over pretty quickly.

Ket baker is one of those spots you go home and tell everyone about. Great coffee, INSANE pastries, all situated on a farm with a roaming peacock, a family of ducks, chickens and more - it really has it all.

As the title suggests, these burgers slap. Dog friendly (they even have treats), awesome staff, and burgers that leave a lasting memory. I'll be back for sure.

Sometimes you don't need to travel anywhere far or spectacular to enjoy an amazing sunset, and this is one of those examples. The whole farm glowed a bright orange
