Silo Sanctuary: A Cosy Farm Stay
Adventure in Wirrinya, Country NSW, NSW, AU
Staying in the converted grain silos at The Top Paddock Silo Stay was the breath of fresh air we needed to completely switch off and reconnect with nature.
We headed out to the Central West to spend a few days experiencing this working cattle farm and exploring the local region.
On arrival, three friendly goats waited patiently by the fence for us to hand-feed them. Our dog was completely smitten with them, instantly making new friends. Every now and then, a curious peacock would wander past, completely unbothered by us.
The farm itself was a peaceful sanctuary. Built from two original grain silos, the unique farm stay has been beautifully fitted out with everything needed for a relaxing escape, including an outdoor spa, fire pit, BBQ and fully fenced yard. Fresh sourdough, homemade spreads and farm-fresh eggs were also provided, making for a delicious breakfast.
Our host, Kylie, offers a personal farm tour where guests can get up close with the animals and learn about sustainable farming. It was incredible value and the highlight of our trip. Her gentle herd of cattle were the friendliest we've ever met—you won't want to miss meeting them.
We also loved exploring the nearby towns, filled with colourful murals, heritage buildings and impressive sculptures along the Lachlan River. While in Forbes, be sure to stroll the picturesque walking path around the lake and stop for a coffee and a sweet treat along the way.
We left feeling completely refreshed, grateful for the slower pace and already dreaming about returning to this peaceful little slice of the Central West.
