Paradise at the End of the Street: A Boomerang Beach Escape
Adventure in Boomerang Beach, North Coast, NSW, AU
Tucked away at the end of a quiet street where the forest meets the sea, this home in Boomerang is a hidden sanctuary that feels worlds away. The architecturally designed home blends raw concrete textures with warm Balinese styling, creating a peaceful retreat just minutes from Boomerang Beach via a private bush track. Sleeping up to eight guests, it’s perfect for families or friends, with a games room, spacious kitchen, two bathrooms, bicycles to explore the area, and plenty to do nearby. We started each morning with yoga beneath the Balinese hut before wandering to the beach for a sunrise swim, finishing with the refreshing outdoor shower beneath the trees and a home cooked meal, dancing around to some music and amongst the crackling fireplace.
The days unfolded at an easy pace. We enjoyed a wine paddle, local cheeses and bold reds at Great Lakes Paddocks Wine Bar in a hinterland village Wootton, before spotting rainbows stretching across the paddocks on the drive home. Mornings were spent discovering Kembali and Frothy Coffee Boatshed overlooking tranquil Smiths Lake, where kayaks and catamarans are available to hire. We finished our stay exploring Elizabeth Beach and the Shelly Beach trail, rewarded with crystal-clear water, winter ocean swims, abundant birdlife and even an eagle soaring overhead. It was the perfect blend of coastal adventure, nature and complete relaxation.

A hidden hinterland escape just 40 minutes from Boomerang Beach, Great Lakes Paddocks in Wootton is where rolling green paddocks, grazing cattle and coastal country charm collide. Sink into a cosy blanket with a wine paddle, local cheeses and bold reds, surrounded by peaceful farmland views. The drive home is pure magic — palm-lined roads, open fields and rainbows dancing across the landscape.
We eased into the day with a coffee at Kembali Café before wandering the charming village and exploring the beautiful Elizabeth beach. There’s a rare sense of calm here—a place where the days move slower, the beaches feel untouched, and holiday mode comes naturally.
Later, we made our way to Smiths Lake, stopping at Frothy’s Coffee Boatshed before spending the afternoon on the tranquil water, with kayaks and catamarans available to hire for a gentle paddle.

With endless stretches of coastline to explore, we followed the scenic bush trail to Shelley Beach. Nothing prepared us for what awaited. Crystal-clear turquoise water, dramatic rock formations and not another soul in sight — it was hands down my favourite beach in Australia. We spent hours swimming, spotting an eagle soaring overhead and admiring the untouched beauty that makes this hidden paradise so unforgettable.
