Good weather, good friends, good vibes
Adventure in Torquay, Great Ocean Road, VIC, AU
Come Friday, we crammed surfboards on the roof and ourselves in the car and hit the road with plans for a good weekend with good friends. Felix Beach House and Torquay did not disappoint.
As soon as we arrived, we knew we’d hit the jackpot. With big open spaces, sleeping for 8, sunny balconies, a fire pit and even a mini-golf course, Felix Beach House was the perfect taste of summer.
We didn’t waste any time though and quickly made use of being smack bang in the middle of the Surf Coast and took the boards out for a little rip. With fun-sized waves and a surprising empty lineup, it was party waves all day long.
With a wholesome afternoon in mind, we scurried down the Narana Aboriginal Cultural Centre to play with some kangaroos and emus, and learn more about Aboriginal Culture and Art.
As sunset came, it was appropriately accompanied by a little fire in the backyard, delicious food and more than our fair share of wine.
Our final morning was spent in full relax-mode. We lay about in the sun reading books and drinking coffee like any good Melburnian.
Before making our way back to the city, we stopped by Bells Beach and were pleasantly surprised to see the paraglide takeoff pumping with about 20 gliders in the air! There was even a local paragliding school doing lessons and tandem flights.
Driving back to Melbourne, we felt the tired contentedness of 48 hours filled to the brim with friends, waves and wines. See you soon, Torquay, we'll be back.

Things We Did
- Surf
- Lookout
- Wildlife
With warm weather and some fun waves, it would have been rude not to dip our toes in and have a cheeky little surf at Boobs.
The waves had slacked off a bit in the afternoon but there was still plenty of excitement at Bells Beach where paragliding lessons and tandem flights over the beach were in full swing.
For a wholesome morning with some wildlife, we zipped down to Narana Aboriginal Cultural Centre to play with emus and kangaroos, as well as learn about Aboriginal culture and art. Make sure you check out the art in the gallery, it was incredible.
