The Qii to the Otways

Hidden deep in The Otways rainforest above Lorne. Designed in 1977 by architect Edgard Pirotta around the principles of Feng Shui to allow energy to flow freely throughout the property. Our incredibly thoughtful host Heather has since transformed the entire property over the last decade into a total sensory experience.

The property provided the perfect home-base for us to spend quality time with friends and our children away from the hustle of the city surrounded by nature. We spent our time soaking up the sounds of the forest in the massive outdoor tub, creating pizzas for the wood-fired oven on the deck, zoning out in the hanging egg chair, hiking with the kids along the private rainforest walk and exploring the infinitely diverse ecosystem of the surrounding Otways Rainforest.

Only a 20-minute drive from the property is one of the most popular waterfalls in the Otways above Lorne. With a short but pretty steep descent downstairs into the valley the 30m falls are best seen from the bottom viewpoint but the kids really seemed to enjoy hanging out by the fern-covered rock pools downstream even more. I'd recommend taking a bottle of water if you're hiking up with kids hanging off you...
