Off-Grid Sanctuary

When a getaway starts with a boat trip, you know it's going to be special. The River House is a boat-access only, off-grid holiday home on Coba Point, where Berowra Creek meets the Hawkesbury River. Powered by renewable energy, the house is effortlessly beautiful and thoughtfully designed with the location in mind. Backing onto National Park and surrounded by bushland, you can't help but become immersed into the tranquillity of slow days and river views, with the stillness only punctuated by the occasional splash from a jumping fish.

It was a weekend of tea, reading, reclining and gazing out the windows across the water. We spent the mornings sipping coffee from bed and watching the fog lift from the riverfront, before making late breakfasts in the open-plan kitchen. A little exploring of some caves behind the property led to incredible views from the top of Coba Point lookout, an excellent spot for a peaceful, scenic lunch. In the afternoon, we paddled the canoe to a secluded beach across the river for an afternoon picnic before sunset drinks from our private dock.

There is no single aspect of the location or property that we did not fall in love with during our stay. If slow and still is the aim of the game, then The River House is the perfect retreat or romantic getaway.
