We arrived in Blampied worn out from a morning mountain biking with the family in Wombat State Forest and found ourselves nestled between trees in an orchard on a beautiful organic farm.

After unpacking and racing to secure the best viewing position in the loft, we explored the property with Oggy and Otis (the youngest member and 6th generation of the farming family) eating fresh nashi's, plums, apples and tasty mulberries.
Hearing the history of the farm, winery and surrounding cabins - set up with solar, wood and wind power - is a credit to the family and an inspiring legacy where such foresight has become ever relevant today.
A stone's throw away from the farm we headed out for dinner at the historic Swiss Mountain Hotel and returned home to meet friendly livestock before calling it a night with a bottle Captains Creek's finest.
